Our environment impacts our lives
Hello everyone. I'm glad to be here today to talk about a very important subject.
Why choosing your environment is very important and how our environment will impact our life? This is what we will see together in this new article today.
Personally, I left the city where I lived my childhood with my family a few years ago, and I learned to rebuild my environment to feel good about my life. I didn't leave because I didn't like my environment anymore, but I understood when I left that I could rebuild an environment that suited me much better.
And I wanted to explain to you today how our environment impacts us because depending on the environment in which you are going to be in your life, either you are going to be able to feel very good, very fulfilled, very free, very happy; or you are going to be able to feel super grumpy.
If you are every day in the subway with people who are sulking, if you are annoyed in the street and it's always ugly and raining...., when you are in a place where it rains all the time, where the weather is not nice, where it is cold, where people are grumpy, where they are not pleasant, maybe you are even one of those people, because you are not well at heart, versus when you are in a place where the weather is as you want it to be, where you feel free, where you feel you can dress as you want, where people are smiling, it will inevitably impact your mood. That's also why the weather affects your mood, that's also why other people affect your mood; your routine affects your mood.
So, the environment has a huge impact on us, why? Because our environment is a little bit like a general atmosphere that will impact our different senses. It can impact our sight, so depending on what you will see every day; it will either pull you up or pull you down. That's also why it's really hard to stay smiling and pleasant all the time in a place where people are never smiling and never pleasant.
So, it will impact the sight, it will also impact the smell. If you are always in an environment with very aggressive smells, a lot of pollution, and this is something that attacks your respiratory system, it will inevitably affect your morale.
In fact, it's all the little things that will create the repetition. It's the same with the cold, if you can't stand the cold. With heat, I typically have a lot of trouble with heat, it makes me very grumpy, not to say aggressive. So, it also plays a lot.
It can really impact a lot on the emotions, why? Because it is often said: that our thoughts will create our emotions. I am one of the first to say that. In fact, according to a situation, we will have an interpretation, we will create a thought from that and from the thought we will create the emotion. And following this emotion, we will have a reaction.
The reality is that we also have reactions that are the opposite and many things today show us this. From our reactions, emotions will flow, which will in fact lead to thoughts and which will simply lead to an attitude. So, the information is ascending as well as descending.
So if you want to have nice thoughts, it's also important to have nice emotions. When I say nice emotions, all emotions are nice, but it's rather emotions that you want to feel; that make you feel good most of the time. It is important to be in contact with things that make you have good emotions and this is where the environment comes in.
Ask yourself the question: in your environment, do you feel the majority of the time in emotions that are rather positive or emotions that are rather negative, what are the sensations that you have in contact with your environment, what are the reactions that you have? Does your body have particular reactions, do you very often have physical reactions that are not pleasant in your environment, it can be for example pimples, it can be stomach cramps, it can be the fact of frowning all the time, it can be tensing, sweating. What are your physical reactions? What are your emotions? What are your sensations? What are your feelings? So, what are your habits and your anchors?
That's the second notion I want to talk to you about, that in relation to the environment, our habits and our anchors play a huge role. It is a phenomenon that is linked to an emotion in your head. We will associate an element, whether it is a smell, a sensation, a sound, a color or whatever, to an element that we recognize among many things.
In your environment, there are bound to be anchors, pleasant anchors and unpleasant anchors. If you have more unpleasant anchors in your daily life than pleasant ones, you can be sure that this will weigh on your morale and that every time this thing comes up in your life, you will feel bad. That's how emotional intelligence works.
So instead, create anchors that are pleasant in your daily life or observe: what are the things that you hate in your daily life and that, each time, remind you of an unpleasant emotion, what is the smell that reminds you of an unpleasant emotion... It can be the sound of a horn, it can be music that you can't stand, maybe the voice of your boss, it can be many things.
So, your environment whether you like it or not, necessarily impacts your health, your well-being, your emotions. As a result, impacts your mental health, and consequently your thoughts. That's why, I went abroad. Not to create a better environment for myself, but it's something that came out of it, because I feel good in the cold. When I know that I don't want to be aggressive, my attitude, my whole body language changes too. When I'm in contact with people who smile all the time, of course I want to smile all the time too. When I can eat what I want and when everything is easy, I feel less stressed, less angry.
That's why all the great entrepreneurs, all the stars, all the artists always choose environments that pull them up, that allow them to take their place, that really allow them to unleash both their creativity and their potential, everything they want to bring out in the end.
So, choose your environment because, whether you like it or not, it necessarily impacts you without you even having any real control over it or even without you even realizing it.
I hope that this article can also help you to put your finger on what it is in your life that perhaps you are not feeling well right now. Is it just your relationship or is your whole environment in need of an overhaul? Is it just your workplace or your job or is it the environment that you need to change or leave or join, I don't know.
