Splinterlands - Key Fire Cards to Own
For the last regular splinter that I will talk about in this mini-series, I left Fire. It is one that I do not use too often or have a particular liking towards, but I find it to be extremely useful in certain situations - I hate getting it as a quest, but I will often weave in quite some games of it in particular rulesets.
I will present to you, as usual, the 5 key cards to own in Fire splinter, in my opinion. It is the most offensive of the 5 splinters and has quite a lot of cards that tie in with that identity.
As always, there's a disclaimer: the cards are considered for up to Silver league, their price is crucial and I am focusing on modern - will only include cards for Wild if they seem like crazy good deals.
1. Exploding Rats - $0,14/BCX
I know this is not a very expected card to be included here, but while it is an unseen card under normal circumstances, there are rulesets that make it one of the most powerful monsters. Exploding Rats has the additional upside of being a reward card - meaning it is quite easy to stock up on it naturally, but also through buying it at a cheap price. You also only really need it at level 3, but honestly.. Just get it maxed for Silver if you can, that thing is so cheap.
Equal Opportunity, Melee Mayhem, Super Sneak and Equalizer. This is when you will use Exploding Rats, and you will fall in love. The 6 speed at level 4, as well as 3 attack means that it will usually attack as one of the first units on the field, instantly dealing tons of Blast damage across the enemy team.
2. Forgotten One - $2,70/BCX
One of the most powerful Chaos Legion epics and cards in general, Forgotten One makes for a fantastic tank and is also great in some rulesets. There are few downsides to this card - even the price is extremely friendly! For just around $25, you can get a maxed version for Silver league, but it is still great at level 1.
With its Immunity, this is a great card for Noxious Fumes - but its high attack also works well in all melee-friendly rulesets. At max level for silver it also gets Retaliate, which makes it an absolute beast in every possible circumstance. Its 14 effective health makes it so that there is a lot of chances to Retaliate, so it can often take a whole team out by itself.
3. Fineas Rage - $3,18/BCX
The most expensive card to max for silver on this list is Fineas Rage - an excellent melee attacker with Reach and high speed. It would be eprfect to have it at level 3 for the extra attack, but that does get the cost up to $45, so level 1 should suffice. With Tarsa or Malric it is still 3 attack, and the high speed is likely the biggest reason to use this monster.
The stats on this card are surprisingly high for its cost - the high speed and health, combined with Reach makes it so that this is a great addition to mid and high mana battles - as well as those where every monster gets Enrage. It is a fantastic offtank, due to Reach and the ability to dodge some attacks with the 5 speed.
4. Grum Flameblade - $14,30/BCX
The most hyped airdrop reveal ended up falling just a little short of the expectations, but it is still one of the strongest cards to have in Silver. In high mana battles you always want yourself the only monster with Bloodlust, as well as tons of effective health due to Void Armor. It is also fairly cheap for its strength at just $14-15.
The Void Armor makes it so that it is quite safe to use it as a tank regardless of the type of damage - especially at level 2, where it gets Void. The problem of Grum can be its vulnerability to armor - the monster just loses a lot of its power if it can't land the last hit. Due to this, Super Sneak and Equal Opportunity can also be favourable rulesets. Monsters with Rust, or Qid Yuff are great as well to pair with the Flameblade!
5. Lava Spider - $0,07/BCX
The cheapest card on the least is the Lava Spider. It is basically the new Fire Beetle - sadly without the Armor. That said, it is extremely cheap while being a great Snipe monster - working great with Yodin! Maxing it for Silver costs just over $4 and it is worth it for sure; I imagine the card will go up quite a bit.
This one has Snipe, which is a great ability to have especially at such a low mana cost. For just 3 mana, you get 2 Snipe ranged damage, which can help you take out some pesky backline monster; or simply set up Serpentine Spy to attack the right target!
Closing Words
Most of the cards I included here work mainly situationally with some special rulesets. That is because I find Fire to work best exactly in specific rulesets, which is a lot of fun - as I usually end up winning when I use it, only doing so when it is in favourable circumstances!
