Nostalgic Walk to my Former Office Building - Vienna

avatar

Hi everyone!

About a week ago, I had an appointment with my Neurologist in the 7th District here in Vienna. The clinic is directly located at a shopping mile at the Mariahilfer Strasse. I chose this specialist back then because of the proximity of his clinic to my former office. I have an eye nerve problem that's been bugging me and causing migraines.

After the consultation, I went window shopping. The Mariahilfer Strasse is a car-free shopping street that is about 1Km long. All shops both local and international flagship stores, are represented here. There are also street cafes catering to tired shoppers.

Cars and vans seen here were on delivery mission, this street is absolutely car-free.

I have decided to take a walk, turning on the street called Esterhazy Strasse into the direction of my former office building. This street has plenty of beautiful buildings with lovely plasters on their facade in the style of Art Nouveau.

I passed-by this street with beautifully constructed buildings which are mostly apartments.

I reached the end of the street and saw the corner bar called The HIVE...what a coincidence!

The cars here are allowed to park only during weekdays since Saturday is reserved for the biggest flea market in Vienna. The lines on the park ground are numbered lots assigned to each market dealer.

And so there it is.... this had been my former office building, my office window was exactly right there on the top floor with the red arrow. We could eat on the sun-terrace in the middle of our floor level. It was very nice here, we just need to go down to get lunch since vis a vis is the Naschmarkt, the food mile of the city. We could buy freshly cooked stuff and fruits. I will be posting more about this market soon.

I miss this market because it was very convenient to just buy fresh produce during lunch breaks. Sadly, our office back then moved to a bigger office in the city center because we could not accommodate the multinational expats coming from various EU and GUS countries for the office conferences.

It had been a nice walk despite the heat of the day at 32°C/ 89.6°F. This triggered in me fond memories of the old days which made me smile.

Thanks to @tattoodjay and @elizacheng for the Wednesday Walk and Make Me Smile collaboration.

Beautiful buildings. It is a commercial area but it is clean and orderly, and nice to walk around.

Yeah, it really had been very nostalgic...but my eyes were not teary..I love the office in the city center we moved into but it was so huge that only half was occupied by our Finance Dept. The other half had been empty most of the time since the bosses were travelling all the time.
