Detty December And Spending Like You've Gone Nuts.
Detty December is a term we use around here for the festive season and the month of December to be precise. It's a term coined to fit the the joy and happiness that comes with the month of December.
Yeah folks, its the time of the year again when spending lavishly is seen to be normal and the idea of saving and investing are seen as vague. This idea is pretty widespread on a global level as we all tend to wanna go all out on celebrations at the end of the year regardless of our faith, race and believes. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the New Year are quite special for most of us as we count ourselves lucky to have made it alive after a year of hardwork, hustle and so many challenges.
This month/ period holds the record for the most parties, hangouts, vacations, clubbings etc. Its okay to wanna live our lives the way we want and also have some fun but it's also quite common to see people go broke at the end of the year (in January) as a result of their excessive and extravagant spending in December.
The pressure to spend like others tends to be high this period and I personally know some folks who've borrowed money to make this month the best time of the year.
Don't get me wrong, I understand this period is quite significant in all of our lives regardless of whether we choose to celebrate or not, but the idea of spending more than you earn or more than you can afford is just ridiculous and crazy. After Detty December comes Struggle January and most of us are gonna be banking on what's left from December.
Spending more and saving/ investing less is never the way to go regardless of the month of the year and sometimes I wish some people would realise that having the best time of your life shouldn't be specific to a particular month/ period. Everyday above the ground should be special to us and every second breathing should be celebrated in our little way.
Lastly, life goes beyond Detty December and the best kind of spending and investments are those on our growth, development and health. RESIST the temptation to spending on things you don't need and aren't gonna add value to you. Also resist to spend to impress people because the effect on them doesn't last, what lasts is your regret. Spend wisely folks.
