Quick Tips For New Players | Splinterlands #399
As we know from playing this game for years, is that splinterlands isn't just a normal tactical card game, theres a lot more to it. With this week's splinterlands community challenge focusing on tips and tricks, it's a perfect time to share some basics tips whether you trying to climb the league ranks or maximise reward chests, here are some practical tips from my own experience.
Team Synergy
As we know from the world of team sports where its about the cohesion and synergy of the whole, the same principles can be applied to splinterlands where its less about a single overpowered card, but rather about the team synergy. Here are a few principles to keep in mind:
- Your lineup to match the specific ruleset of the battle. This may seem so basic, but I have so many new players forget about this basic step. For example, if you playing Super Sneak ruleset battle, then its good practice to place a tank in the last position to absorb attacks. Similarly, in Reverse Speed, monsters with low speeds should be the default choices.
- Always anticipate your opponent's how your opposition will lineup. For example, if you have been coming up against lots of strong magic teams, then including monsters with Void or Magic Reflect will be useful.
Team Positioning
Understanding where to place monsters, will be the difference between you clinching a win or facing a humiliating defeat.
- First Position: The monster in the first position should be reserve for tanks that have loads of survivability (high health, high armor, survivability abilities). Its always good to support the tanks with other monsters that can heal or repair them and ensure they can survive.
- Position Two to Six: A good approach would be to have a combination of midfield utility and backline DPS monsters. The midfield utility monsters should have abilities like Triage, Tank Heal or Amplify. The backline DPS monsters should have Sneak or Opportunity to deal with the oppositions backline.
Splinterlands Tokenomics
As I have written about many a times in the past, do not ignore splinterlands in-game economy as it plays a huge factor in the overall splinterlands ecosystem:
- Staking SPS will earn you rewards and voting rights, which will give you a chance to influence the game's future.
Play The Long Game
If you want to make your splinterlands journey a success, it will require consistent effort as splinterlands is not a quick get rich scheme:
- Watch for new cards and shifting meta: New editions will continuously be printed as it's the main source of revenue for the dev team and with new editions comes new abilities and new overpowered monsters.
- Experiment with different lineups: Sometimes surprising your opponents with an unconventional build may give you an edge.
- Grind daily quests: This is your bread and butter for earning rewards. Yes, it will be small but over time it may add up to something.
- Guild participation: Joining a guild will give you the opportunity to join guild brawls which will give you another avenue to earn SPS rewards, network with other splinterlands players and improve your skills.
Concluding Thoughts
There are many facets to the splinterlands game, and it will be daunting to new players -- remember to take things one day at a time and remain consistent. What is your go-to tips for splinterlands success?
