Every country, of every continent has its culture in food and meals that identify it, with products of the region although in different states of the same country have some variation while maintaining its essence.

In Venezuela, my country, each region is represented by a dish that is most consumed or identifies each family of the place. In general in our country we share different dishes that are liked by the majority, as we can not resist, everyone puts his touch or according to the economic resources of each family.

I start with the arepa, corn flour is used, you can make the dough at home or precooked corn flour, this flour is kneaded and rolled into balls and flattened into a shape as shown in the picture, are taken to a hot griddle until they are cooked until they sound, then we say the arepa is ready.

As for its filling, there are several types or with whatever you want to eat it, Venezuelans have had to eat it only with butter. In addition to eating it stuffed, it can be made to accompany soups or other types of food.

Another dish you can share is cachapa with cheese. This is made with tender corn, it is a doughy dough and is cooked on a griddle or budare, not all of us get so beautiful. There are people who are experts in the art of making cachapas and they have a very good taste and texture.

They are served with queso de mano, a cheese that is called this way in Venezuela, llanera butter. They can also be served with fried pork. In these times, those who are witty have devised cachapas with various fillings such as cheese, ham, chicken, sauces and well, there are always those who like to venture into these types of fillings and enjoy them very much.

EMPANADAS

Source

The empanada can be called a traditional dish, it has crossed the barriers in terms of boundaries between countries like the cachapas and the arepa with the forced immigration that has occurred for some years. It has reached many parts of the world.

The flour with which the arepa is made is also used (it can be ground corn or precooked flour already industrialized), the empanada is fried, it is cooked in hot oil. Here is its characteristic half-moon shape.

As for its filling: cheese, larded meat, ground meat, chicken, some types of fish and seafood. A breakfast with empanadas is very traditional whether made at home or going to a store to buy them.

There are families that still sell empanadas to maintain the family economy during the afternoon/evening hours. They are very tasty and if they are toasted, even better. Another characteristic is the use of sauces that were not used in the past, such as garlic sauce, parsley sauce, cheese sauce, among others.
