No Man's Sky Adrift Expedition : My First Experience (Phase 1)
Recently, No Man's Sky has a huge update, and they are giving it for free! I am so excited about this update because I has the chance to experience expedition adventure that I have never played before. Although I have 144 hours of total hours in there, I think I barely seen everything the game has to offer.
So I was given a chance to select my starting resources and technology, but have no idea what should I choose. A new journey mean starting from fixing the crashed starship, actually, I cannot decided which resources should I take with me. I just select anything that I think are essential at start and harder to get later on. I am so confused. I made a mess here. I even forget to fill the technology slot, so they all empty haha.
After the expedition initialisation completed, I was brought to a unknown planet called Planet Lapezuk (First Contact). My race was different from my main adventure, I think it was a Geek character. Planet Lapezuk is a dead world, beneath a dark but not lonely. There was this one giant worm fly through the sky and dig into the ground. Other than that there were some alien creature on that planet too.
This giant worm is massive, I cannot shot it and make any harm on it. Although it screaming loud scary voices overtime, at least I am not alone on this dead planet.
There are five phase in total need to be completed in order to finish the expedition. My first mission of phase 1 was to locate my starship, which was easy. All I have to do was walk to the tagged coordinate. There are eight different mission for each phase, so in total 40 mission need to complete the entire expedition if I not miscalculate. It's gonna take me a while. I think I will complete in one week, with one phase per day.
The crashed starship need to be repaired. It's not an easy task. I started with no resources and vulnerable to any extreme condition. It took me a while to survive the harsh condition that make my life support keep draining. I need more oxygen and more carbon! It was stressful bun fun. The launch thruster, and pulse engine of the starship needed magnetised ferrite, deuterium, hermetic seal, and some other resources as well as crafted item. They were not easy to get, not easy because it took me a while to find them and remember how to get those refines materials.
Like I said, I am not alone after all. There were hungering tendril everywhere, and they keep attacking me whenever I go near them. Killing them will give me sodium and flesh rope, which was new found for me. The flesh rope I get from the hungering tendril can be refine to earn nanites which is really essential in the nms universe. So, while collecting resources and material for the starship repair, I grind this tendril for nanites.
It took me a few hours grinding for nanites in this planet before I repair my starship. I don't want to rush thing up, I want to enjoy it and do thing slow. I want to have enough nanites so I can bring my multitools and my starship into this world when I reach anomaly, that's what I understand from the infomartion I read at the space anomaly before I start this expedition. There were whispering eggs and it's bodyguard too, which gave me a lot of option to grind enough nanites.
The starship finally repaired, and it can fly up high to the sky. After the struggle for hours, now my resources steady and I feel more confident to face the harsh condition, but I will not face any sentinel drone of interceptor just yet. I try to complete every mission in phase 1 and for every mission completed I was rewarded essential items for the expedition. I even completed mission from different phase on this planet which was awesome!
I went to the space station of that system, it's abandoned and no lifeform were on the space station. It was like haunted place with only broken door, infested room, and a barely functioning galactic terminal. Weirdly, I can still sell stuff and buy stuff from the trading terminal but it's not like it's normal display.
On of the mission in Phase 1 required my to mine asteroid on the space. While doing that, I saw a massive size of jellyfish on the space. It was my first time seeing it on this game. When I shoot it, it doesn't fight back. It can be destroyed but I gained nothing from it. There were a few of that giant jellyfish swimming randomly on the space. I feel so lucky to have seen them in this adventure.
One final mission for Phase 1 was to warp to a another system and reach expedition rendezvous 1. I warped to a system called Havida-Bozho XVI. It was discovered by the developer of course, by Hello Games. After reached the system, I move with the speed of light to Planet Rotmouti IX, where the Rendezvous 1 was located.
Then, I landed on the Parche Planet, Planet Rotmouti IX, which has an external temperature of -59.3 Degree Celcius. I open up the target sweep mode to locate the rendezvous point. After walk on foot for a while, I finally reached the designated location. I can see some player already put their communication ball on that area. I forgot to put mine tho, I am so focused on the mission. Upon reaching the rendezvous point, I completed my expedition phase 1. Some mission from other phase also completed but not all. More importantly I survive Phase 1!
If you read this far, thank you, I appreciate it so much. Thank you for your support, it means a lot to me. That's all for today, see you in the Phase 2 of the Expedition. Have a nice day. Goodbye!

Oh wow! I started the Adrift expedition too, but they didn't give me the option to choose any starting resources. 😅 If I ever see that pop up in the future though, definitely oxygen and carbon and sodium... that was a real struggle on that first planet.
