Caring for Kokot

The weather forecast about continuous rain seems accurate for our area. It’s been raining on and off since morning. It rains, stops briefly, rains again at noon, then pauses for a while, only to continue in the evening and into the night. Sometimes it’s heavy, other times just a drizzle. Not much can be done outside, especially in the garden.

Oh, by the way, I’m feeling much stronger now. My body isn’t weak anymore, and I’m ready to take on heavier tasks. However, my wife is still dealing with a stomach ache. If she doesn’t recover by tomorrow after finishing her medicine, I’ll take her to a private clinic. According to her, since she was a child, government clinic treatments never worked for her, and only private clinics could cure her. She told me this even before we got married, and I still find it amusing. Because of this, I rarely take her to government clinics unless it’s an emergency, like yesterday when all private clinics were closed.

This evening, I spent time treating Kokot. After nearly two weeks of not being home every day, Kokot has been around daily since last Friday. However, I’m worried about the wounds on his face and back, caused by other dogs biting him. The male dogs are fighting over a female during mating season, and I don’t dare go near Kokot right now because he’s very aggressive. I’ve apologized to the owner of the female dog since Kokot often growls to chase away other male dogs and fights break out. That’s why Kokot is covered in wounds. Some are healing, but others have become infected with maggots. I treated him by applying medicine to kill the maggots and managed to remove most of them. However, I think some are still deeper in the wounds. I can’t touch the wounds because Kokot gets aggressive, so I just sprinkled powder medicine to kill the maggots. I’ll check again tomorrow to see if there are any left. If they’re all gone, the wounds should heal quickly. I’m hoping Kokot recovers soon.

After treating Kokot, I picked a ripe papaya and checked on the creeping vegetables, which seem to be growing fast. The dragon fruit plants are also growing well, and they’ll soon need something to climb on. I plan to buy some bicycle tires to support them. This is my first time growing dragon fruit. I started with just three cuttings, and now I have 12 growing plants. I expect them to double next year, so I need to prepare more planting areas.

Even though my wife is still not feeling well, she still cooks for us as usual. Tonight, she prepared something special to celebrate payday, she said. The highlight was dumpling soup, which I loved. The kids weren’t as interested because they had bacon with fresh mustard greens and white rice instead. So, I ended up eating most of the dumpling soup myself, haha. After the meal, we spent time together playing carom. It was fun especially when Eiona involved.
