LADIES OF HIVE COMMUNITY CONTEST #163

Greetings, December! As always, there's always a fresh topic in this community this week as we near the end of the year and begin a new month. The following is my choice of topic that caught my interest:

It's December and you have the opportunity to give something material without a price-limit to a single person. The condition is that this person does not have any type of relationship with you and that they will not be able to transfer that gift to anyone else. What gift would you give, to whom, and why?

I would like to fully sponsor a reception for the Heart Fund in Sabah, as I understand how difficult it can be to obtain funding for such cases. My motivation for doing this is because my daughter was fully sponsored by the Sabah Fund Foundation when she was 4 years old.

Since she was born, my daughter has experienced a blockage valve in her heart and was scheduled to have her operation done when she was seven years old at the IJN (Institut Jantung Negara, Malaysia), which stands for the National Heart Institute of Malaysia.

However, when she's getting bigger at 3 years old, my daughter's condition at that time was extremely unstable. During that period, it was my mother who took care of her and brought her to all of her treatment sessions while I was working outside of the area. I was performing in Bintulu and Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.

It was an extremely painful experience for me to be separated from my sick daughter. Every time I received news that she had been admitted to the hospital, it made my days restless and uneasy. But my mother always tells me to calm down and just work. I was a single mother at the time, and I needed the money to support my kids.

I am grateful that my daughter did not have to wait long for her surgery, as there was a kind-hearted person who generously donated the funds for her operation. This happened in the year 2007. I remembered what my mother told me about this miracle when I was performing in Kuching.

My daughter was only 4 years old when she underwent the surgery, and it went smoothly. Before the surgery, I was working at a well-known hotel club in Kuching. At that time, I still had a one-month contract left to complete, but my band leader did not allow me to take a long leave.

I violated my contract by leaving earlier than expected. As a result, I was blacklisted for 5 years from performing at any nightclubs in the Sarawak area at that time. I believe that was the sacrifice I made without considering the risks to my career.

My daughter underwent surgery at the private Gleneagles Hospital in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, and as far as I can remember, the cost of the surgery and all of our flights, amounted to around RM40,000 or $8565.31USD.

For now, I am forever be grateful that my daughter is now healthy and well after the surgery. She has grown up to be a fine young lady. She is now 20 years old and working as an art teacher at a well-known art school in my hometown. She is also taking on commissions for her drawings and selling merchandise with her colleagues. She is very hardworking person.

If I were wealthy and money is not a problem, I would unquestionably cover the medical care of the less fortunate until they were healthy. I remain indebted to the person who so kindly contributed the funds that were needed for my daughter's operation. I hope and pray that this person will always have good fortune and excellent health.

This is my entry for this week's Ladies Of Hive community contest #163, which was given by @irenenavarroart. For those who are interested in joining this challenge, you can follow the link I have provided here. Thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings, and may God bless you all.

Found your entry!
My daughter is three aswell. I can't imagine how hard it was to deal with such condition, as a mother it's really hard emotionally to see them struggle.
Very beautiful wish to give back and help others in need.

I am grateful to my mother who took care of her since she was a baby. I had to work outside the area because my ex didn't help at all. The most painful thing was being far away and hearing that she was hospitalized. In the past, there was no video call, so we could only communicate through the phone. Anyway, I am truly grateful that she is now healthy.

It's really hard to see our own lil daughter seems in trouble and personally i feel fear from the word surgery , but happy to know she's fine now and establish her career as an art teacher ♥️

Yes,it is hard Indeed, I discovered that my daughter had a heart problem when she was just one month old. Hearing the doctor's words at that time shattered my heart. However, seeing her grow up now, I know she is strong.

I always recall her condition during the surgery, how she woke up earlier than expected by the doctor. I remember when she woke up from the surgery and she immediately asked for water to drink and I cried at that time because she was not allowed to drink after surgery. Whenever I remember about it, my eyes would be in tears. 🥹

Thank you for your kind words. I hope she will always be healthy. Seeing what she went through before the surgery ,I know she is a tough child.

I'm so glad your daughter was able to get her surgery, and mad for you that they blacklisted you for leaving one month early for it! What parent wouldn't want to be there for their child having major surgery? They should have made an exception. There are more important things! I think you made the right decision. 💜

I was blacklisted because I ran away from work. I left a big luggage in my hotel room full of my work clothes. I told my band leader that I wanted to take a week off, and when I was already took a week off, I needed to extend but he didn't allow it. When I said I wanted to quit, he got mad and just tell the management that I won't be back. He can find me a replacement but I guess he don't want to make a fuss because it's our final month there. Since everything was in the contract, I don't blame the management, but I blame my band leader who didn't know how to compromise.

Totally. Family emergencies are an understandable reason, it's not like you wanted to quit to go party or something.

Exactly! I don't know what went through his mind, but that's all in the past now.

The blacklist only lasts for five years, and I was able to perform there again.

The last time I was in Kuching was in 2019. I'm grateful that I was allowed to enter the state once more. 😝
