Love Locks in Paris.

Paris, the City of Love, is a popular spot to attach a lock, proclaim your love and throw away the key, symbolizing that your love will last for all time .

The pedestrian Pont des Arts (Bridge of the Arts) near the Louvre became a popular spot and became known as the Love Lock Bridge.

It became so popular that too many tons of metal locks were destroying the integrity of the bridge .In 2014, nearly 3 meters of the Pont des Arts bridge fell into the Seine

The city removed 45 tons of locks in 2015 and the wire mesh panels were replaced by Perspex

People just moved to a different location!
These locks were on Montmartre in front of the Basilica Sacré-Cœur..

The tradition of attaching locks to bridges can be traced back to young women in Serbia during World War I.

They have the same lovelocks here in the Philippines. Paris is a whole new level though it's country of love!

I have seen locks on local bridges in my neck of the woods and knew the reason they were there. This is obviously an international thing! How very cool.

It's amazing to me that the weight of the locks could take a bridge down, but then again, they are metal and often heavy. Interesting!

Thanks for sharing @melinda010100, and have a lovely day!🤗💜 !LADY

The weight of the locks was roughly the same as 20 elephants. That's a lot on a Footbridge designed for people!

Nice love padlock. Yes, I think anyone who is in a relationship and puts the lock on that place is certainly an agreement that I will not be separated again.😃👍

Thanks for sharing, @melinda010100 ! Beautiful photos... I can't help but read some of the inscriptions on the locks and imagine the thoughts and emotions of the individuals who placed them there.

Well, if the locks are causing any problem they can move to ribbons or threads like something:)

This can be really nostalgic when you find some lock from old time still locked here

Locked into love, sure fine way to symbolize affection one to another, wonder how many return to remove once the fall out happens.... !LOLZ just thinking aloud 😘😂

I wondered the same! I suppose if you threw the key in the river you would need a hack saw!

I've seen an article on this before and it's pretty fascinating. Not sure "fortnite" is a sentimental love....LOL.... but who knows.

A metal works company here used that idea and made a heart in the downtown that locks can go on. It's big ! You can use your own lock or you can pick a color and order one from them to engrave and then you can put it on the heart wherever you like. I think I did a post on it several years ago. I had one made with my brother's name with Love and Miss You. I know it was supposed to be more for lovers, but I wanted his name locked on there, so I did it.

That's very cool to have a lock there in memory of your brother. There are so many kinds of love, I think that it's very appropriate to have his name locked on there

Love locks in my opinion are really great symbols of enduring love worldwide, but their weight poses real risks to iconic bridges. And the sight ain't always going to be pretty

I remember that bridge! If I recall every now and again they have to remove some of the locks because it runs out of room! It looks like they had a great trip and saw all of the sites!

The bridge carried more than 700,000 locks, with an estimated combined weight roughly the same as 20 elephants. After a section of the bridge collapsed, all locks have been removed and I believe it is illegal to to attach locks on city property

It was a great idea while it lasted, or collapsed! lol

Probably those marriages ended up in divorce anyway. 😆

I think the Love locks are the most popular touristic spots all around the world :)
