So it has almost been a week since we had to rush Bella off for emergency surgery due to a vaginal prolapse and I have to admit I was pretty concerned about her health and well-being and how her recovery. Just for a quick recap for those just tuning in last Saturday which also coincides with a public holiday so no vet clinics were open and even the emergency vet clinic wasn't taking pets.

I had to frantically call around until I located someone that agreed to performe surgery on Bella and I have to admit it was extremely concerning as I wasn't sure what I was going to do if no one was open or I couldn't get someone out to help.

Fortunately for an expensive price I was able to have her seen too and undergo emergency surgery and she's been on the mend ever since.

I do have a really funny story about Bella's surgery as it was a holiday there was no staying over night for her so it was literally get stitches and home right away.

When I picked her up she was as high as a kite and I was walking her to the car and she was all smiles and happy and smelling everything but her demeanour was totally different. At first I was like what the heck is going on. Then I realised that she must be high from all the pain killers and from being put under. It was the funniest thing!

The ride home in the car was an interesting one I thought she may have thrown up but she was out like a light in no time snoring away until we got home.

Poor girl going to the bathroom the first time after the operation really hurt her and she was screaming and yelping in pain. But that has since passed.

Today was our weekly check up post op and after almost a week of antibiotics pain medication and something else she is doing fine. There was an issue where the prolapse had fallen out again but due to the stitches it was held in place and the vet was able to push it back in place.

We will have to go back again next week for our final check up and if there is no infection and the wound has healed she'll be booked in for a full hysterectomy. So unfortunately I am up for more cash but as long as Bella is safe that's all that matters.

Although I think she has become addicted to the pain medication as they are sedatives and after the first two days she realised what I was giving her and she would come to me at the same time for her pain meds.

I'm not sure if it was because she was in pain and knew the meds helped or because she was getting stoned.

Either way she is safe and sound getting lots of cuddles from me, mumma bear and the kiddos too.

Poor Bella ❤

Lucky Bella not poor Bella. Lucky because she has a very caring and concerned master to take care of her. I wish her quick recovery and wellness.

I hope Bella recovers soon. Pet surgeries are not easy, but with proper care, they recover quickly. Best wishes to you.

She's on the mend which is great, I was scared because of her age but she is all good.

Ahh, the cone of shame...it truly a bane, isn't it? We had to jerry rig a longer one for our cat last year, as he was wounded right at the base of his tail, and he could still reach it with his normal collar. That was a fun day 🙄
