Where Did The Rice Fields Go?

Where did the ricefields go.png

Months ago, I made a post about reminiscing our visit to Laguna years ago. We had our eldest daughter with us then and one coming. You can read about it here.. I was looking forward to our next visit then with our three daughters.

So the day came when finally got the opportunity to visit Sta. Cruz, Laguna again. To my surprise, the rice fields that I had in the photo in my other blog will soon to be Camella Homes.

I'm referring to this photo:

That field about is now this fenced land below in the video.

Though there are still portions of the land that is still rice fields. Just like this one.

Excuse our children's hair. It was windy. :D

We were not allowed to get in the fenced area so what we did we inquired how much if we are going to acquire one Camella house unit at their office. We did a site visit to the model houses.

These are the model houses.

The prices of the houses we can't afford this time. LOL But the good thing there, we were able to see and visit the place. My husband was sad to see the rice fields being converted to a subdivision. He remembered his younger years. They used to play on those fields with his friends and siblings. But what can we do? See the fields vanish.

Days ago, we heard another news that the coconut trees near my-in-laws residence were being cut. My husband again became sentimental. No more trees! :D

I am referring to these magnificent coconut trees which were decades old. But then again, the only thing we can do is see these trees fall to the ground. We were not there when the cutting happened and we don't own the land anyway. If only we had the power to stop it from happening.

This situation reminds me of the movie The Lorax. No more trees!! I just hope that we will not come to that point where trees are being endangered and worst extinct. It may sound exaggerated but it can happen if we humans will not take care of the only Earth we live in.

Thank you for reading this far. I am actually missing these greens. I am thinking maybe I am really getting old. LOL Missing the provincial life.

Until next time!

Love,
Met

when you can go with your family it's a very pleasant thing,, and you can see the location there is better, even though the trees there will bring us comfort and a cool breeze, but what's the matter if it's fallen, can only see and feel sad in our hearts.

I've been thinking that in your post @me2selah that it will be camella homes who will build a subdivision there in the beautiful rice fields.
Maybe here in bataan it can happen also 🌄🏙️

Perhaps, the owners needed the money for another investment or for medical expenses which is usually the case when you part from your land in exchange for health medications.

The area that I currently live in just 20 years ago was all rice fields. Now it is all skycrapers and condos. There is a city just 20 km down the road that is facing the same thing. I'd like to believe that there is a plan here but money drives the world and well, selling the land for houses and condos is much more profitable i guess.

It is sad to see progress eliminating green areas. It's something we see a lot of all over Asia as the population increases and more and more homes are needed. Its very evident in Thailand and my home in Phuket is being developed at an alarming rate also. BTW your three kids are just lovely - a very wonderful family!
