Hello Hivers ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’˜,

On my discord channel when I got there it was a lot of questions with so many discussions one after the other so I decided to bring out these in order to clear so many minds concerning the question. The question was sent to me that in banana or plantain farming how do a upcoming farmer sign that they are ready for harvesting? For like how many months can you plant your plantain sucker before it reach it maturity stage?. I have so many questions but just few of them will be exclusively treated here. Being a farmer you need a lot of knowledge gathered from east west South and North so that even when you are having one challenge or the other you will be able to pick point from which angle does it come from and what is the remedy..

Remedy in agriculture may be in terms of using of chemical for your plant or the natural way of fighting pest and diseases. It is all acceptable because in advance country where you have a lot of cultivated crops you need to use mechanize farming system to face the reality. When you face the farm reality then you will know that it is on the field that you file up more knowledge. Concerning the plantain or banana family you need to know that first and form of sourcing for a very good seed is what is recommended, so that even when it's growing of gradually it will be a very easy growth. When you purchase a bad seed or not a hybrid seed you may have a lot of problem along the line. When this is sorted out then you can proceed to the location or the agricultural Farmland you want to use so that it will help you to naturally fight again some diseases. To the question on discord, when you plant the plantain seed or preferably you can call it plantain sucker, you need to monitor it effectively and during the planting you must ensure that you dig a very deep hole and insert the seed carefully, this will assist you to grow more younger seed in between the growing stage and the maturity stage. And this is why I love to present my article with a lot of pictures to show us.

  • When you sight your plantain or banana that is absolutely fully matured or big this way. You need to first of all double check if the leaves are fully dried again when you have one of these characteristics it means that you can go ahead and harvest your plantain or banana. you can also double check on your plantain or banana tip.

There is one mouth end like on both banana or plantain right from the flowering stages. When this is also fully dried then you can conclude that you have a very full protected matured plantain or banana to harvest.

The planting or banana can be planted with the good observation and recommended farming space. This is simply because when you manage your planting space without ensuring that you have enough space for the offspring growing on their own, even the offspring alone can make the parents plant fall down if care is not a so there are so many precautions and guidelines you need to follow.

This is how the leaves must get dried so that it will give you a full confidence that you have a very even over matured produce on its tree before you cut it down.

Cutting it down does not have any techniques or rules but you should ensure that it does not affect the little ones growing up on their own. So partially you need to draw down the dry leaves so that the plantain or banana will be at an angle of 45ยฐ before you cut it down. You should also clear it off the ground to make way for other Young ones to grow. That is the aim.

Thank you for this informative article. I recently learned that after they flower, that plant will not flower again. But the little ones around will.

Our neighbor gave us many bananas like that still on the stem but they were still very green. They were the small type of bananas. We were also going to go to an island in a lake in the mountains for a few days so he told us to tie the bananas tightly in plastic bag (I used a black color bag to protect from light and nosy animals) and hang it. I left it like that in our shed.

By the time we returned from our trek, the bananas were perfectly yellow and super sweet! The sweetest I have ever had yet

One thing about plantain or banana is that a particular plant will flower just once in its lifetime. Then the offspring will replace the main parents after a very long period Of time. That is absolutely true. At the moment we also have different types of banana species and plantain depending on the country and also the region. Hahaha yes that's another local method of making the plantain or the banana to quicken its ripening stage. I Also practice this method I was taught by my late dad. You are right as well. @proto26
