Ladies of Hive Community Contest #158 / DEAR DIARY - QUERIDO DIARIO (ENG – ESP)

Dear Diary, I tell you about my day today.

Today I woke up at five o'clock in the morning with raindrops falling on my city. A wet and distressing dawn for me, knowing the amount of floods that are occurring in my country and the rest of the world. I remembered that for this date the rains began when the 1999 landslide in the Vargas area, these days we have had events with rains and hurricane winds that are not common and consequently trees and branches falling, roofs of houses flying in the air and that scares me.

I looked out the window and I could see people passing by with their umbrellas and young people going to their schools, I said to myself "the rain does not stop us".

I was excited to attend the Workshop for approaching people with disabilities, a topic that interests me a lot because of my activities with the visually impaired, but today was not the day. The organizers, who live in the outskirts of the city, could not arrive because of the morning rains, so the activity will be rescheduled and I can only wait for the new date, although I confess, I had high expectations.

When I arrived I found her very nervous and anxious to know what the doctor would tell her about the results of her tests; although I was also a little anxious, I was more serene so that my mom could calm down a little.

We went to the clinic, which is located at the other end of the city, a journey to get to the place, first take the subway, which is always totally full of people and then a public transport through one of the most crowded avenues of the city, two and a half hours of exhausting journey, but finally we arrived.

When my mother was referred to the specialist, it was inevitable to remember that my father had passed away from a pulmonary complication and for us it is an issue that still affects us, hence the fact that referring my mother to the pulmonologist moved our emotions.

When we arrived at the doctor's office we were shown in immediately, the doctor, very attentive, reviewed all the tests she had ordered to be done, including the chest CT scan, lab tests and echocardiogram. She introduced in her PC the CD of the last chest CT, then the new one, her silence stressed me, my mother held my hand as a sign of distress. Finally, he broke the silence and explained that the nodules found in his lung were typical of arthritis, additional that they were very small, nothing to worry about.

That reassured us, a great relief to know that everything was fine. She routinely examined her lungs and blood pressure and found everything to be normal. The doctor told us to come back if we felt any discomfort, but if we didn't, my mother was fine. Thank God everything turned out well and we returned home.

One more day grateful and blessed, with much enthusiasm to continue with my projects, the timing is perfect.

Querido Diario, te cuento mi día de hoy.

Hoy desperté a las cinco de la mañana con las gotas de lluvia que caían sobre mi ciudad. Un amanecer húmedo y angustioso para mí, sabiendo la cantidad de inundaciones que están ocurriendo en mi país y en el resto del mundo. Recordé que para esta fecha comenzaron las lluvias cuando el deslave de 1999 en la zona de Vargas, estos días hemos tenidos eventos con las lluvias y los vientos huracanados que no son comunes y en consecuencia árboles y ramas caídas, techos de casas volando en el aire y eso me asusta.

Me asome a la ventana y pude observar a las personas pasar con sus paraguas y jóvenes a sus centros de estudios, me dije “la lluvia no nos detiene”.

Estaba entusiasmada en asistir al Taller para abordaje para personas con discapacidad, un tema que me interesa mucho por mis actividades con las personas con discapacidad visual, sin embargo hoy no era el día. Los organizadores, que viven en las afueras de la ciudad, no pudieron llegar por las lluvias de la mañana, así que la actividad será reprogramada y solo me queda esperar la nueva fecha, aunque me confieso, me había hecho muchas expectativas.

Solté lo que paso y me fui a buscar a mi mama para acompañarla a su cita médica con el Neumonòlogo, cuando llegue la encontré muy nerviosa y ansiosa por saber qué le diría la doctora de los resultados de sus exámenes; aunque yo también estaba un poco inquieta, me mostré más serena para que mi mami pudiera calmarse un poco.

Nos fuimos a la clínica, la cual está ubicada al otro extremo de la ciudad, una travesía para poder llegar al lugar, primero tomar el metro, que siempre está totalmente lleno de gente y luego un transporte público por una de las avenidas más colapsadas de la ciudad, dos horas y media de trayecto que agota, pero finalmente llegamos.

Cuando remitieron a mi mama al especialista, fue inevitable recordar que mi papa había fallecido de una complicación pulmonar y para nosotros es un tema que aún nos afecta, de allí también que al referir a mi mama al neumonòlogo nos haya movido las emociones.

Al llegar al consultorio nos hicieron pasar de inmediato, la doctora, muy atenta, reviso todos los exámenes que le mando hacer, entre esos el tac de tórax, exámenes de laboratorio y ecocardiograma. Introdujo en su pc el cd del tac de tórax pasado, luego el nuevo, su silencio me estresaba, mi mama me tomo de la mano en señal de angustia. Por fin, rompió el silencio y nos explicó que los nódulos que se encontraban en su pulmón eran propios de la artritis, adicional que eran muy pequeños, nada de qué preocuparse.

Eso nos tranquilizó, un gran alivio saber que todo estaba bien. De rutina le examino los pulmones y la tensión encontrando todo normal. La doctora nos indicó que si sentía alguna molestia regresáramos, sino era así, por ella, mi mama estaba muy bien. Gracias a Dios todo resulto bien y nos regresamos a casa.

Un día más agradecida y bendecida, con mucho entusiasmo de seguir con mis proyectos, el tiempo es perfecto.
