April 12th || A Day Now Lived 18 times.
Hello, Dear Hivers!! | Hola, Queridos Hivers!!
Years, years ago, in 2004 a very strong and beautiful woman decided to bring the baby inside her belly to the world... That woman was my mom, and naturally, the baby was me 😊.
"Hmm-mm"
She couldn't talk because of the pain, but her desire to communicate with me was so big that she made little noises so I knew she was there... Now I'm the one who makes little noises to "let her know I'm here" (bother her LOL)
When I turned 1 year old, they organized a little celebration to ... Well, celebrate.
So they did when I turned 2, 3, 4, until I turned 13, when making a party became so expensive that only rich people could do such thing.
The point is that I got used to celebrating my birthday "a lo grande", but on my own way.
Latinos have a tradition that consists in making such a big party when a girl turns 15 years old. However, when I turned 15, we didn't do that. We just invited close friends, family, and we had a cake, so it was ok ... Mostly.
After that, the pandemic hit, and during the quarantine I feel like I learned how to be alone and enjoy myself and the alone time as much as the company time. Actually, when I turned 17 it was just me and my parents, and it felt so perfect! I needed no one else that day.
Even though I enjoyed my 15 years old celebration at its time, deep down I wanted some more. Something big and special, and of course, I wanted to dance the Vals, which is part of the "Quinceañera" tradition. This year, I felt like it was a bit more possible, so I started to fantasize with my mom an 18 birthday party, which in my opinion makes more sense than a 15 one, 'cause something does change. You become of legal age, hehe.
One thing led to another and the fantasizing became the planning, and even though it was hard, the big special thing I wanted, happened!!
I love when the things I do are like me; I feel is somehow doubly special, because, in this case, it wasn't just another party.
I felt it was very "me". The place was humble and yet so beautiful, the vibe was super peaceful, relaxing, and funny; the music wasn't so loud, it had the perfect volume; the mix between my friends and my family was very peaceful. My friends behaved according to the vibe the celebration was giving. There was no need of getting drunk, or making dirty games to enjoy. It was perfect for me.
I'm super grateful with everyone. Thanks to my uncle Chuchu, the wish of something big and special, is now an anecdote. Thanks to Jhoanny and Michelle, it wasn't a mess LOL. They helped us with the planning, the decoration and in everything else they could. They are my other mommies 🥰.
My mother... Thanks to her... Everything is thanks to her, because she could've said no to everything (and trust me. She's very good at saying no. LOL.) She made a great effort to make this possible too, really. Thank you very much, mom! You really are the best.
I thank my dad for collaborating too, and most importantly, for being there with me. I thank my aunt Lelly too, for helping with the searching of the place, the support, and the beautiful sun glasses I'm wearing in the party pictures hehe. Aaand! Last but not least, my uncle Guillermo. He collaborated with the sound equipment and the music, and was there even though he was not allowed (because of his religion). Thank you. 💜
I also want to thank my grandfather for helping with the drinks and stuff; my aunt Emilia and her daughter for making the effort of coming from Bolivar to celebrate with me. And OF COURSE, my sister, Anna, who came from Pto. Ordaz 🥰.
Speaking of thanking: My friends outdid themselves with their gifts. First, I wasn't expecting many gifts, because of the situation, but wow!! I loved each gift! It's funny how much they know me, haha. That made me super happy. I felt so loved!!
Happy 18th Birthday!!! So glad you had a perfect party and everything went well. Thanks for sharing all the great pics! So much fun and dancing going on! And of course you're always smiling your beautiful smile! 😀
Holii! Thank you very much!!
It's always a pleasure sharing with you 🤗 and yeah hahaha, I danced a lot LOL
Thanks for the beautiful. My mom says she's going to upload a pic of me angry so you see it HAHAHA.
Greetings!
