We have reached the last round of the POB Photo Contest for this year 2023, soon to end. In just a few days we will be celebrating Christmas and then preparing to welcome the New Year, with the legitimate hope that it will surprise us, but in a good way.

Since the theme was free and it was not possible to use archive photos, yesterday Sunday I went to Paseo Juan Guillermo Iribarren, a pedestrian boulevard located a short distance from my home, and although I usually pass very close, I had not entered it in a long time.

The local authorities carried out recovery and maintenance work in their areas, in addition to installing new decorative elements for the enjoyment of the community, including a monument that really surprised me: it is a sculpture or assembly where human figures lean on each other on columns that increase in size from the outside to the center, where a globe stands out.

In the columns you can read various words in both Spanish and Latin, while the columns at the ends indicate the cardinal points.

They also put up some Christmas decorations, which, in my opinion, seem like they didn't put much effort into them considering that this is a public space where many people used to go, and in the month of December they used to put up a huge Christmas tree that was lit up during the holidays nights for the delight of visitors.

Hemos llegado al último round del POB Photo Contest por este año 2023, próximo a finalizar. En apenas unos días estaremos celebrando la Navidad para luego prepararnos para recibir el Nuevo Año, con la legítima esperanza de que nos sorprenda, pero de buena forma.

Siendo la temática libre y no pudiéndose usar fotos de archivo, ayer Domingo me acerqué hasta el Paseo Juan Guillermo Iribarren, un boulevard peatonal ubicado a corta distancia de mi hogar, y aunque suelo pasar muy cerca, no había entrado en mucho tiempo.

Las autoridades locales realizaron labores de recuperación y mantenimiento en sus áreas, además de instalar nuevos elementos decorativos para el disfrute de la comunidad, entre los que se incluye un monumento que realmente me sorprendió: se trata de una escultura o montaje donde figuras humanas se apoyan sobre columnas que incrementan su tamaño desde el exterior hacia el centro, donde destaca un globo terráqueo.

En las columnas pueden leerse diversas palabras tanto en español como en latín, mientras las columnas de los extremos señalan los puntos cardinales.

También colocaron algunos adornos navideños, los cuales, en mi opinión, parecen no haberse esforzado mucho considerando que este es un espacio público al que anteriormente concurrían muchas personas, y en el mes de Diciembre solían colocar un enorme árbol de Navidad que se iluminaba durante las noches para el deleite de los visitantes.
