A Sip of Traitor's Blood

Heyy very good evening my dearest art lover people, happy Friday and above all happy beginning of the weekend, I have been a little absent here in the last few days due to work commitments and pending jobs; although I haven't had time to post here as much as I would like, I still managed to find time to make a few sketches that I hope to finish this weekend and share with you next week, so wait for them. Today I come to show you a drawing that I finished late last night and where I wanted to capture a little bit of the dynamic or theme of royalty that I like to illustrate, but with a touch a little more somber and dark; this character is one that I decided to call by the name of (Lourdess) and it is about an evil and ruthless queen of a small and remote kingdom, this queen enjoys murdering and drinking the blood of those who oppose her orders:

Heyy muy buenas noches mi queridísima gente amante del arte, feliz viernes y sobre todo feliz inicio de fin de semana, he estado un poco ausente por aquí en los últimos días por cuestiones de compromisos laborales y trabajillos que tenía pendientes por allí; aunque no he tenido tiempo para publicar por aquí tanto como quisiera, aun así, he logrado sacar tiempo para realizar un par de bocetos que espero terminar durante este fin y compartírselos la semana que viene así que espérenlos. En el día de hoy les vengo a mostrar un dibujo el cual terminé anoche ya muy tarde y donde quise retomar un poco la dinámica o temática de realeza que tanto me gusta ilustrar, pero con un toque un poco mas sombrío y oscuro; este personaje se trata de uno al que decidí llamar por el nombre de (Lourdess), y se trata de una malvada y despiadada Reina de un pequeño y remoto reino, esta Reina disfruta asesinar y beber la sangre de aquellos que se oponen a sus órdenes:

When I started the sketch I wasn't sure how I was going to build this character, I had doubts between doing her as a full body or as a portrait, finally after doing some basic sketches and adjusting some details of the body I decided for a middle point between both ideas; I drew (Lourdess) with a somewhat thin but somewhat voluptuous build, with long hair and bangs on her forehead and I also decided to add a cup in her hand where she pours the blood of her victims to drink it later. I started the coloring process looking for tones that were a little different and not so common, that's why for the skin I used a medium salmon reddish tone, this color, after painting it with the flat brush I loved how it adapted to the skin and on this base I began to work; the work of constructing the skin was done with the watercolor brush, the soft strokes and the low opacity would facilitate the subsequent mixing of the shades.

Al empezar con el boceto no tenia del todo claro como construiría a este personaje, ya que tenia dudas entre hacerla a cuerpo entero o como un retrato, finalmente luego de hacer un par de bocetos básicos y de ajustar unos cuantos detalles del cuerpo me decidí por un punto intermedio entre ambas ideas; dibuje a (Lourdess) con una contextura algo delgada pero un tanto voluptuosa, con un cabello largo y con flequillo en la frente y también decidí agregar una copa en su mano donde vertería la sangre de sus victimas para luego beberla. Empecé el proceso de coloreado buscando tonos un tanto diferentes y no tan comunes, es por ello que para la piel use un tono medio Salmon-rojizo, este color luego de plasmarlo con el pincel plano me encanto como se adaptaba a la piel y sobre esa base empecé a trabajar; el trabajo de construcción de la piel lo hice con ayuda del pincel de acuarela, los trazos suaves y a poca opacidad facilitarían la posterior mezcla de tonalidades.

After blending and mixing the tones very well and giving the skin a more natural look, the next thing I did was to start shaping the details of the expression of the face, for example for the eyes I worked for a long time with the gray tones very close to the skin color of (Lourdess), this so that the eyes look as matched and natural as possible in the skin; for the lips I used a light red tone, the process here is a little different because here the volume for the lips I had to do it with the airbrush, and then I could better define the fleshiness of both lips. The painting of the dress or suit of (Lourdess) I did it with red tones, first on the base of light red I began to define a little of form adapted to the body, and then I could go on texturing better what would be the fabric of the dress; already finished with the basic form of the dress the next thing I did was to try to print a little of texture or pattern like feathers to the dress, this I did with the help of the layer mode multiply and adjusting slightly the levels of opacity of the layer until I got a better naturalness and realism.

Luego de difuminar y mezclar muy muy bien los tonos y darle a la piel una apariencia más natural lo siguiente que hice fue empezar a darle forma a los detalles de expresión del rostro, para los ojos por ejemplo trabaje un buen rato con los tonos grises muy cercanos al color de la piel de (Lourdess), esto para que los ojos se vieran lo mejor acoplados y naturales posible en la piel; para los labios use un tono rojo un tanto claro, el proceso aquí es un poco diferente ya que aquí el volumen para los labios debí hacerlo con el pincel aerógrafo, y ya luego si pude definir mejor la carnosidad de ambos labios. El pintado de la vestimenta o traje de (Lourdess) lo hice usando matices rojos, primero sobre la base de rojo claro comencé a definí un poco de forma ajustada al cuerpo, y ya luego pude ir texturizando mejor lo que seria la tela del vestido; ya habiendo terminado con la forma básica del vestido lo siguiente que hice fue tratar de imprimirle un poco de textura o patrón como de plumas al vestido, esto lo hice con ayuda del modo de capa multiplicar y ajustando levemente los niveles de opacidad de la capa hasta que conseguí una mejor naturalidad y realismo.

The painting of the hair was done in a slightly looser way, I let the strokes go down in a natural way and only minimally waved the brush and the hand so that the strands of hair take a better realism; after the hair I created a new layer and began to work the cup in the hand of (Lourdess) and the blood inside it, for this I used a layer effect to weaken a little the structure of the cup and give that shiny crystalline effect very characteristic of ancient or medieval times. Finally I finished my drawing by creating a kind of room with old and rough walls, and also obviously created a chair or throne where the queen (Lourdess) would sit and enjoy the blood of her victims, this throne I focused on making look as old as possible and for this I used dark brown tones as a base and only added a little light colors in minimal areas where only natural light reaches the environment.

El pintado del cabello lo realice de manera un poco más suelta, deje que los trazos bajaran de manera natural y solo ondulando mínimamente el pincel y la mano para que los mechones de pelo tomaran un mejor realismo; luego del cabello cree una nueva capa y empecé a trabajar la copa en la mano de (Lourdess) y la sangre dentro de ella, para esto use un efecto de capa para debilitar un poco la estructura de la copa y darle ese efecto cristalino brillante muy característico de la época antigua o medieval. Finalmente termine mi dibujo creando una especie de cuarto o habitación con paredes un tanto antiguas y rugosas, y también cree obviamente una silla o trono donde la reina (Lourdess) se encontraría sentada disfrutando la sangre de sus víctimas, este trono me enfoque en que se viera lo más antiguo posible y para esto use tonos marrones oscuros como base y solo agregue un poco de colores claros en zonas mínimas donde solo llega la luz natural del ambiente.
