Caress me... as María Conchita Alonso said
For the Venezuelan generation of the 80s, the name of this actress and singer may sound familiar, because who does not recognize the letter of "do not imagine that I am so locaaaa ..." or any of the hits she had during her stage as a singer?
What some may not know is the complete story of this artist, who stood out in other areas such as television, film and even on Broadway, without forgetting her beginnings as a beauty queen.
This versatile woman during her entire artistic career, was always a reason to fill sheets in gossip magazines, because it was not only about art, but also about sexy photographs, controversial comments, and defend her point of view at any time.
I remember that when I was a child, her songs sounded frequently on radio stations and all my school friends and I knew more than one. We felt like divas singing lyrics that obviously were not for children, but that nobody saw with malice.
One of his songs that I still remember and that I even sing in parts is called "La Loca" which has to do with the process of female awakening in what respect not only to the feminist movement, but also to the professional achievements that were increasing among women during the 80s.

His lyrics usually referred to the role of women in a society in which machismo prevailed in relationships, jobs and economic positions. He also sang a lot to the love and the feelings of the women who turned out to be the lovers.

And although his most recognized controversies have to do with his opinions with respect to political leaders with whom he is not or has not been in agreement at the time, there were also scandals with respect to failed loves and the lyrics of some of his songs, because they seemed to send very explicit messages. Although if we compare them with the songs of today, this theory falls by itself.

Currently, this Cuban-Venezuelan artist lives in the United States, with a low profile in terms of music and acting, but undoubtedly remains remembered as one of the members of the golden musical era of Venezuela, in which many songwriters flourished.
Always controversial, including if tic nervous that made her move the nose, María Concepción Alonso or María Conchita as we knew her during her entire career, will always be in my opinion, an icon of the female awakening in the Venezuelan scenic arts.
