Professional self portraits

Greetings to all my friends in the beautiful Photography Lovers community, I hope you are having a great day!

Something that happens to all professional photographers a lot is that in photo shoots, unless we work with models (which is not the most common thing), clients often say that they don't know how to pose, so it's our job to guide them during the photo shoot.

I must say that I have already learned many poses to guide women since they are the ones I most often take pictures of, but I know that I still needed a lot more practice to guide men in poses and precisely for that reason I did this self-portrait session for myself, to learn to pose and also to leave a visual guide to be able to show the poses to men in future photo shoots.

So in this series of professional self-portraits you will see that in all the photos I have a different pose, because that was what I was exploring!

To take the photos, I put my Canon RP camera on a tripod and connected it to my phone via bluetooth:

I also set a 10-second timer to have enough time to hide the phone and strike the poses.

In the lighting, as the main light I used a speedlite flash with a 60 cm octabox at 45 degrees from me and as a secondary light I used an LED light panel behind me to separate myself from the background.

I had a lot of fun taking these photos because I was able to explore various aspects of my person and every time I take a self-portrait session it helps me to accept myself better.

I hope you liked these photos as much as I did!

Awesome!! I love your lighting. It looks so professional and like a painting haha. It emphasizes the facial features and clothing without it being too dramatic.

I'm also setting up my own home studio (finally!!!) and I have sooo much to learn still. You also have a led light behind you? I didn't notice that, it's very subtle and makes a lot of sense why you look "3d" if you know what I mean. Good job!

Also the phone/remote LOL I can relate about rushing to hide it before the camera captures 😂. In my previous camera Nikon, there is an option for self portraits that captures many photos in every ___ seconds after you have pressed the timer so you don't have to press each time. For example, you can set for it to capture 1 photo every 10 seconds and it will continue to do so 10 times so after 1 shot you can immediately proceed to your next pose without needing to press the timer again. It's very convenient but unfortunately I don't have that option in my Fuji. Does Canon have that?

Thanks for that good comment, i really recommend to get a octabox of 60cm or more!

without it being too dramatic.

i really was trying to avoid dramatic light , so thanks!!

Yes, the panel led was really low light like at 25% of power, the intention was to be subtle only doing it's necessary light to separate me from the background, that always works well!!

Does Canon have that?

i dont know about other's cameras but i havent found that option in my camera, i have really needed it some times , i have to take 1 photo per time , that option could be really useful!
