FIFTY YEARS AGO TODAY
Hello everybody. Just the other day, I was looking at a once upon a time documents of my fallen dad, a hero, a role model and a friend who touched many life during his life.
What you can see are some of his agreements that he made 50 years ago. The used to be simple yet binding. People used to be more friendly and honest in whichever commitments they had whereas nowadays we don't. Children used to belong to the society whereas children trafficking is big business along drug. They used to welcome and take care of strangers in their whereas every stranger is a suspect criminal. No need to cry over spilt milk because honesty and trust are long gone and therefore have one thing in common with my late dad.They are all sleeping in their graves.
In a nutshell the agreement was made on third January of the year 1972.How old were you then?
The agreement was about hiring of a sewing machine.
It goes"Mr Anunda Nyaega is hiring a sewing machine at a cost of twenty Kenyan shillings monthly".Then, twenty Kenyan shilling was tantamount to one sterling pound whereas today a sterling pound is worth one hundred and fifty Kenyan shillings.The agreement continues to say"If the machine gets spoilt while in the hands of Anunda Nyaega,he will foot the repair costs.
Items accompanying the sewing machine are as follows;
1.A stool chair,
2.Three Bobbins
3.Scissors
Anunda has paid twenty shillings for one month of January 1972.The owner of the machine is Makori Nyasagare"
What follows is the names and signatures of the witnesses.
I know it looks jargon to most of my readers but in away I feel we have something in common.Thanks for going through.

Was this for business? Was your Dad's friend sewing stuff to sell with this machine?
💗🤠💙👍🙏
Yes. The friend was a tailor. My father was a teacher and didn't have tailoring know how? But he bought this machine for hire.
Looks like a good investment! Years ago I bought a sewing machine for a single Mother in Ethiopia. She hires others in her village now, and has many machines.
