About the Quote
We have more abilities than we realize, but the choices we make determine which of those make us who we are. After all, we all have the ability to sing, but many of us don't do much to develop it. We all have the ability to draw, but many of us limit ourselves to drawing stick figures.
When we look at professional athletes, what we really see are people who chose to pursue their chosen sport to the point where even they may not realize they have abilities in other area such as the arts to the sciences. When we see top-level entertainers, what we really see are people who nurture their performing talents to a high degree while they keep dormant their abilites process numbers in advanced ways or to analytically process historical events.
We were all born with an astounding number of abilities. Each of these abilities we have was given to us in different amounts. Some of these abilities are natural to us, and the rest are acquired from training. Either way, with time being what it is, we choose to focus on some abilities at the expense of others. If we choose wisely, the sky's the limit for us with the abilities we choose to develop.
