It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.

About the Quote
Bravery is expected when we face hostility from opponents or enemies. Against opponents or enemies, we have a lot to lose, and losing can be costly.
However, bravery against friends is just as important because things can reach a point where-- while we're all justified in our positions and beliefs-- we lose our friendships and everything else which is based on them. That's a risk not many of us want to think about, yet the possibility is always present.
It can require as much or even more courage for us to stand up to our friends. This can happen when they take a position opposite to that which we take. This can happen when we hold an opinion on some matter (whether we are in the minority or majority). This can happen when we seek to be visionairies and dreamers while they stay rooted in the realities of the present and the shackles of the past.
