About the Quote
Sometimes, we get the end result we want without understanding how it came to be. It could be due to beginner's luck. It could be because all the stars aligned in our favor. It could be due to some advantage or privilege we have. Where we run into trouble is when we try to reproduce the conditions which led to the successful end result.
Even if we know exactly what happened so that the end result was a success, it's a short trip we took to arrive at success. We didn't learn much of anything even as we succeeded.
Much of our learning takes place because of the corrections we needed to make for mistakes we made alongthe way. This is how we understand not only why something we did worked but also why something we did failed. We discover additional factors we need to know. We confirm what hapens if we ignore one factor or other. If we're quick learners, we figure it out soon enough. If we tend to be stubborn, we just need more time before enlightenment slaps us upside the head. Either way, what we learn along the way to success is more important than achieving actual success.
