Thanks to fellow Hiver's suggestion, I'm now TikTok famous? (kind of)

Thank you to @love5200 for suggesting that I start typing videos on TikTok and then suggesting that I attempt to break a typing world record. I combined these two suggestions and put them into action. I never expected that one Tiktok video would reach 50k views. If you're interested, please click here to watch.

Let's go back two weeks. After @love5200's suggestion, I spent some time thinking about how to break the world typing record. Although monkeytype.com can measure typing speed, there are too many factors that determine the speed. Luck could play a part in getting an easier test to type. Different keyboards might be used (not the QWERTY layout but Dvorak). As mentioned in previous articles, some people can type over 200 words per minute, but their accuracy isn't 100%.

After researching online for a while, I decided on a way to break a typing world record: typing from A to Z blindfolded, with spaces in between each letter. The current world record is 3.9 seconds. Previously, I made a video where I typed from A to Z blindfolded in just 2.4 seconds, but without spaces between letters. I wanted to see how long it would take with spaces, and surprisingly, it took ten seconds to complete. So it is a lot harder with spaces.

So, I started brainstorming how to achieve a faster time. I usually use my right thumb to press the space bar, so I tried using my left thumb for the space bar. I gradually realized that to achieve the fastest speed, there were times when I needed to use my right thumb and times when I needed to use my thumb, depending on which letter in the alphabet I'm up to.

What I discovered next was that I needed to start typing slowly and gradually increase the speed. Just like warming up before running, typing also requires a warm-up. You can't go at full speed from the start, or you'll make mistakes.

The final key was not to practice continuously. Just like going to the gym, your body needs rest. Practicing for about half an hour was enough, and then waiting a day or two before coming back to practice again. Otherwise, your speed might not improve and could even slow down.

Two weeks ago, I posted my first attempt at breaking the world record. In that video, I achieved a time of 4.471 seconds. 4.471 - 3.9 = 0.571 seconds. I was only half a second away from the world record, and it didn't feel too difficult. It felt like it was possible to eventually break the world record.

After a week had passed since my first video, I recorded a second video with a time of 4.23 seconds. This time, I was only 0.33 seconds away from the world record. Just a third of a second faster, and I would have matched it.

Tonight, I just recorded a video and achieved a time of 4.021 seconds. I'm only 0.121 seconds away from the 3.9-second world record. Although it's close, I've already tried hundreds of times today. It will be tough to get even faster. Do you think I can break the world record?
