Those times!

Abuelita Bertita's used to say this phrase a lot when she goes back to the times of her childhood, her family and siblings. She would tell us many anecdotes. Like her, some people use the same expression. Perhaps the human brain for some reason has to go back to the past to be happy and feel good. We compare eras and times lived. Generally, I hear this phrase in the area of music, and the comparison of musical genres.

Musical tastes are very personal, everyone perceives and appreciates it in their own way. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean that someone else doesn't. I think there is music for everyone, and melodies and singers for all times and eras. I think there is music for everyone, and melodies and singers for all times and eras. For me, particularly, the ones that marked my life, I listen to them and my time machine is activated and I say like a grandmother:

What times those were!!!!

When I went to the DISCO to dance all night and leave with my sandals in my hands because I was tired but happy. Really, this is priceless. There are melodies that are of all times. They are hummed and danced as the first day they were launched to the world, they have a swing that invites you to dance and wherever we listen to them, our physical body moves without realizing it. Then you evoke your party days, beaches and discotheques. Those unforgettable moments.

Believe it or not, a song acts as a transmitter of the mind and is able to teleport us to the right moment in which a relevant event happened. This fact is stored in the chip for life, and sometimes a noise or musical sound activates it. We must enjoy this moment, relive it and dance. Sometimes it is necessary to take life not too seriously, just smile at all circumstances. Never forget that there is only one life and it is to be lived.

There will always be someone on the road who wants to have fun, telling you something, they think they offend you, but most of the time it is not so. This is the case when you sing the verse of a melody, hum it or dance to it. Then they come out of the woodwork and tell you:

OMG, you wish at that moment you could do like my Bella Genie and make them disappear. Maybe use my magic wand and turn them into a pumpkin. Maybe, send them to planet Tuesday to say the least. I don't understand why some people are in the business of minimizing others without caring about their feelings. But, I am a bit venomous and say like the Venezuelan actress, Mimi Lazo:

No way... Old will be your M... And I go on regardless of what people will say. Sometimes, just sometimes the oriental in me comes out. Oh la la... Being an old person, 63 years old, is for me a privilege and I thank the Creator. In my younger years, I danced everything, even my eyes. I was fascinated by discos and the lights on the dance floor, I felt liberated and free. Most men didn't use to dance, what they liked was a little brick to hug the girls.

In the 70's to 90's many bands, groups and soloists imposed themselves on me to dance, sometimes even alone with friends because we were the majority. When it came to dancing, everything that was played in the discotheques was good to move the skeleton. Above all, we didn't pay attention to whether the songs were oldies or not. They are all melodies for all times, because they are here to stay. Music is music, period.

Among these celebrities that sounded and still make me dance, we found the Bee Gees, ABBA, Village People, Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Irene Cara, Lou Rawls, Barry White, a-ha, The Trammps, Kool & The Gang, Patrick Hernandez, Cyndi Lauper. Earth, Wind & Fire, Madonna, KC & The Sunshine Band, Baltimora among others.

Of all of them, some were milestones and became very successful albums and blockbuster movie themes such as The Bee Gees and their album "Saturday Night Fever", Irene Cara and What A Feeling, theme song of the film "Flashdance". The song from the final scene of "Dirty Dancing", by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, and many others.

Music and more music

Music is also part of my life and I am excited to evoke those moments with friends and my brothers. In my adolescence, going to dance to a disco was the best. This time it was difficult for me to choose the three songs my friend @ablaze, because I love to dance to Disco music and I like all of them. But... they are only three.

I bring you, three classics that were big hits, reached the top places and sold a lot of records. My first place goes to the Australian singer John Paul Young and the tune "Love Is In The Air". This is a classic from the 70's.

Those times! were unforgettable for me. I evoke it and it seems like yesterday.

Love... is love... And it is always in the air, only the lucky ones are able to feel it and vibrate.

It occupies the number two position, Mambo No. 5. This song was composed by Dámaso Pérez Prado and in 1999 by the singer Lou Bega. It was a total success that swept sales and still sounds in discos and parties in my country.

¡Aquellos tiempos!

Abuelita Bertita´s solía decir mucho esta frase cuando se remonta a la época de su infancia, de su familia y hermanos. Nos contaba muchas anécdotas. Al igual que ella, algunas personas utilizan la misma expresión. Quizás el cerebro humano por algún motivo tiene que volver al pasado para ser feliz y sentir bienestar. Comparamos las épocas y los tiempos vividos. Generalmente, oigo esta frase en el área de la música, y la comparación de los géneros musicales.

Los gustos musicales son muy personales, cada quien la percibe y la aprecia a su manera. Porque a mí no me guste algo, no quiere decir que otra persona no. Creo que hay música para todos, y melodías y cantantes para todas las épocas y tiempo. A mí, particularmente, las que marcaron mi vida, las escucho y mi máquina del tiempo se activa y digo como abuelita:

¡¡¡Qué tiempos aquellos!!!

Cuando iba a la DISCO a bailar toda la noche y salir con las sandalias en la mano del cansancio pero feliz. De verdad, esto no tiene precio. Hay melodías que son de todas las épocas. Se tararean y se bailan como el primer día que fueron lanzadas al mundo, tienen swing que invita a danzar y donde quiera que las escuchamos, nuestro cuerpo físico se mueve sin darse cuenta. Entonces evocas tus días de fiesta, playas y discotecas. Esos momentos inolvidables.

Aunque no lo crean una canción, actúa como un trasmisor de la mente y es capaz de teletrasportanos al momento justo en el cual sucedió algún hecho relevante. Este hecho lo guardamos en el chip para toda la vida, y algunas veces un ruido o sonido musical lo activa. Hay que disfrutar este momento, revivirlo y bailar. A veces es necesario tomarte la vida no muy en serio, solo sonreír ante todas las circunstancias. No hay que olvidarse nunca de que la vida es una sola y es para vivirla.

Siempre habrá alguien en el camino que se quiera divertir, diciéndote algo, que creen que te ofenden, pero la mayoría de las veces no es así. Es el caso cuando cantas la estrofa de una melodía, la tarareas o bailas. Entonces salen de metiche y te dicen:

-Te gusta esa canción, entonces eres viejita-

OMG, deseas en ese momento hacer como mi Bella Genio y hacerlos desaparecer. Quizás utilizar mi varita mágica y convertirlos en calabaza. Tal vez, mandarlos al planeta martes por no decir otra cosa. No entiendo por qué hay personas que se dedican a minimizar a los demás sin importarle sus sentimientos. Pero, soy un poco venenosa y digo como la actriz venezolana, Mimi Lazo:

¡Ay! ¿Vieja Yo?

¡Qué va!… Vieja será tu M… Y sigo sin importar el que dirán. A veces, solo a veces se me sale el oriental que tengo por dentro. Oh la la… Ser una persona de edad, con 63 años, es para mí un privilegio y doy gracias al Creador. En mis años de juventud, bailaba de todo, hasta los ojos. Me fascinaban las discotecas y las luces en la pista de baile, me sentía liberada y libre. La mayoría de los hombres no solían bailar, lo que les gustaba era un ladrillito para abrazar a las chicas.

En los años 70 al 90 se impusieron muchas bandas, grupos y solistas que me ponían a bailar, algunas veces hasta sola con amigas porque éramos mayoría. Cuando se trataba de bailar, todo lo que colocaban en las discotecas era bueno para mover el esqueleto. Sobre todo no estábamos pendientes si las canciones eran viejitas o no. Todas son melodías para todos los tiempos, ya que llegaron para quedarse. Música es música, punto y final.

Entre estos famosos que sonaban y todavía me sacan a bailar, encontramos a los Bee Gees, ABBA, Village People, Gloria Gaynor, Donna Summer, Irene Cara, Lou Rawls, Barry White, a-ha, The Trammps, Kool & The Gang, Patrick Hernandez, Cyndi Lauper. Earth, Wind & Fire, Madonna, KC & The Sunshine Band, Baltimora entre otros.

De todos ellos, algunos marcaron un hito y se convirtieron en álbumes de mucho éxito y fueron temas de películas taquilleras como Los Bee Gees y su álbum “Fiebre del sábado por la noche”, Irene Cara y What A Feeling, tema del filme “Flashdance”. La canción de la escena final de “Dirty Dancing”, de Bill Medley y Jennifer Warnes, y así muchas otras.

La música también forman parte de mi vida y me emociona evocar aquellos momentos con amigos y mis hermanos. En mi adolescencia, el ir a bailar a una disco era lo máximo. En esta oportunidad me fue difícil escoger las tres canciones amigo @ablaze, porque me fascina bailar música Disco y todas me gustan. Pero… son solo tres.

Les traigo, tres clásicos que fueron grandes éxitos, alcanzaron los primeros lugares y vendieron muchos discos. Mi primer lugar es para el cantante australiano John Paul Young y la melodía “Love Is In The Air”. Esta es un clásico de los año 70.

¡Aquellos tiempos! fueron inolvidables para mí. Lo evoco y parece que fue ayer.

El amor… es amor … Y siempre está en el aire, solo los afortunados son capaces de sentirlo y vibrar.

Ocupa el puesto número dos, el Mambo No. 5. Esta canción la compuso Dámaso Pérez Prado y en el año 1999 por el cantante Lou Bega. Fue un éxito total que arraso en ventas y todavía suena en las discotecas y fiestas de mi país.
