Stay tuned!!!
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started on Hive?
Merit.ahama: First of all, thanks for having me and special thanks to @thekittygirl for recommending me to feature. A bit about myself would be, I'm Merit Ahama. Yeah, I used my real name as my Hive username. I got started on Hive in the year 2021, one of the "Let me just be part of this platform and see how it goes" moment. I wasn't negative about what I'll find on Hive but I didn't expect much either.
What inspired you to join Hive, and how has your experience been so far?
Merit.ahama: I was part of a platform that wasn't anything like Hive aside the part that they both had writing to earn features. A friend from that platform introduced me to Hive and guided me on how to grow here. I won't say I was inspired to join Hive but I've been blessing the day I joined since the many experiences I've had here.
My experience has been nothing short of positivity and growth. Hive has helped me explore various aspects of my life both virtually and offline. Setting goals to achieve, growing connections through engagement and improving my lifestyle offline has been all thanks to Hive.
Your posts often share valuable insights and creativity. Can you describe your writing process and what inspires your content?
Merit.ahama: I'm honoured to know my contents share valuable insights, it wasn't easy at first I must say. But it got easier by every content I share. My writing process involves thinking of what I'd love to share, write, make mistakes, correct myself and decide if it's good enough to share. Before now, I'll always ask myself if people would want to read from me.
Because of that, I've learned to do my best in giving out contents that I believe people would find interest in. By the number of engagement I get on my contents, I can say I'm not doing a bad job at all.
What challenges have you faced on your journey in the Hive community, and how have you overcome them?
Merit.ahama: Unlike many others who had to face lots of challenges on Hive, I had very little and that is because the person who introduced me to Hive prepared my mind for it. I didn't see the difficulties I had as challenges but rather as a way for me to learn and grow.
You could say that was how I overcame them too, I just don't see it as a challenge. I'm one of those who is on Hive for the fun of it and it's hard to find challenges in having fun.
How do you think your contributions have impacted the Hive community, and what are you most proud of?
Merit.ahama: I've always made sure to share the good tidings about Hive to people around me, even my lifestyle says more to them than my mouth could say. Hive has first impacted with new knowledge and I'm sharing that to people around. I'm most proud of the fact that there are active users on Hive that I was the one who showed them Hive.
I haven't done much contributions to the Hive community or maybe I don't want to boast as I feel there is a lot more I can do but yet to do them.
Are there any particular projects or initiatives on Hive that you are passionate about or actively involved in?
Merit.ahama: The Hive naija community is one I am hoping to see grow further and positively, I'm a moderator in the community and I've seen how hardworking the other Mods are to make sure the community is growing. It may take a long while but I'm positive about it.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out on Hive?
Merit.ahama: Don't expect big rewards on your posts, focus on growing your connections by engaging genuinely. I would always boast of my beginning on Hive, I explored the platform for almost two weeks, engaging with people and I got a few friends before I shared my introduction post. It was very effective for me, I continued with engagement and grew my connections by every content I shared.
Starting out on Hive is much easier if you don't expect too much and if you focus on improving your contents.
How has being a part of the Hive community contributed to your personal and professional growth?
Merit.ahama: A lot has improved thanks to Hive, even my family noticed the difference and didn't hide it from me. I've learned to face the camera and I've been challenged to improve on my voice since I started sharing video contents on Hive. Someone say me creating a content and was like "You know how to code?" and I realize then that Hive is teaching us a lot of things that we are not even aware we are learning lol.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the Hive community?
Merit.ahama: We are doing a great job pushing strong even with the token price not in our favour. Many Hivers are no longer active but I see a lot of old Hivers who are still very much active, I'm inspired by them and I hope to be like them by staying for the community. Let's keep trying to welcome the newbies and remind them that they could come for the money but stay for the community.
Who else do you suggest should be interviewed here?
Merit.ahama: I'd really love to see @nkemakonam89 featured here, I bet others would have a lot to learn from this Hiver.
Once again, thanks for having me!
