A Day in the City : The things you do when you live an urban live
Let’s do a bit of time traveling.
Last Thursday, I was going out a bit from my room because I wanted to watch a movie titled KKN di Desa Penari, it’s a box office Indonesian movie and certainly a horror one. The movie appeals to me because I have experience doing community service so it was like a trip down memory lane. I mentioned many times that walking around casually in an urbanized city is a bit difficult. I don’t know what ideation that people have about Indonesia but I can tell you as much that it’s not all jungle, lush rainforest or villages. The urban living is shopping malls and skyscrapers. In fact, some of you here from other parts of the world have a better view and surroundings that you can casually stroll around. This time, I was going to Lippo shopping mall. It’s relatively small and it doesn’t have that many vendors and brands but it has everything one might need in a shopping mall. I have been walking around this place way too many times but there are spots where only today I eventually ventured.
The first area that I went to was the cinema. I wanted to check out the movie and that was the only place that plays the movie relatively earlier compared to other cinemas. They are located on the 4th floor of the mall and you would have to go through a lift just to reach this area.
I also quite enjoy eating popcorn these days and I think popcorn at the cinema is just a different league. Inside the cinema, I was sitting all alone and it set the mood for the horror movie.
It was quite a long one and I was honestly scared of moving from my seat despite that at some point, I wanted to go to the restroom. It was dark, horror, and the music was setting the mood that makes the cinema have a different atmosphere. Thankfully, I made it through the end.
As I got out of the cinema and wanted to refresh my mind from the horror movie, I went to the timezone. I am not sure if I have mentioned here or written about timezone but I love arcades.
I visited an arcade that I think is slightly like a young-adult casino except you only win some small knicks and knacks. Timezone to me has better toys and machines than any other arcades I visited. I also had fun playing some shooter games that made me think, I might have to exercise more how to handle guns in real life because when I tried using the gun from there, it was too heavy and awkward for me. I tried a bunch of them and luckily the time zone was empty. Though I personally like it, I would enjoy it more if there were more patrons inside. This is when things are about to change in my week. Inside the timezone, I received a call from my mom that our cat is missing. She was worried sick.
Then, I circled the shopping mall a few times and found an escape room. It’s certainly something new in this shopping mall and I would love trying that out when I can. I have been to a few escape rooms and they’re always fun especially for an adrenaline junkie like myself. So, I am looking forward to trying that especially when I am back there.
The last place I was checking out is called Miniso. I always love strolling around that small shop just because they have cute items and aesthetically pleasing to look at.
They sell items that you don’t know you might need. Though I was only browsing, I was almost tempted to get one of the cute mugs that they have in that store. Luckily , sanity prevailed and I went back before it got dark.
As soon as I got back, a few hours later, I received a horrifying note and text from my mom. That was when I was worried sick and decided to go back home as soon as possible to help her doing daily-task until she recovers.
Let’s go back to the present.
Now, it has been about two days since I am living a suburban life and it is so refreshing. I saw beautiful sky, flowers, and the blooming bougainvillea in our house that is so refreshing to look at. Every morning, I see a beautiful sunrise and if lucky, during the afternoon to evening, I get to see a pink-ish sky with lightning strikes.
Although one thing I dislike about the place is the audio pollution and noise that can be quite intolerable. This year, I plan on being more intentional about the places I visit and enjoying it instead of worrying about things, the future, etc. I have spent a lot of my time worrying but this year ain’t the year we worry about things.
Anyway, that’s it, a day in the city for me and the things I do when I need a de-stressing time! Also, stay tuned for my Brave New World book review that I will be compiling and posting today.

Sounds like a fun time! I can’t tell you the last time I’ve been to a movie theater lol I think it was to see iron man if I remember correctly. It’s been that long! Lol! The movie popcorn does taste great, just don’t look up the ingredients! Lol.
You should work up your upper body strength so you can handle one of those! You never know when you’ll need to that’s for sure these days!
hahaha yeah, I am not planning looking up those ingredients. I bet it's just... horrible. I plan on doing that since I realized, I have pretty difficulty handling even those fake guns. The ones my dad has at home is pretty light but I wanna get to try bigger ones.
That’s great does your dad own firearms or airsoft? I know airsoft is popular in that area but don’t know how difficult it is or not to own an actual firearm. I’m lucky that I own some!
My dad owns hunting guns but it's certainly not easy to own actual firearms. It's nice that you get to have some. I wish one day I could have a collection of them and move to a place where it's much legal to own them.
I think I haven't been to the cinema for about 4 years (no exaggeration). How exciting it must be to watch a horror movie alone in the room, I would be very careful that nothing suddenly comes out of the dark and scares me 😂. If you could have complemented with a visit to the escape room as well, it would have been a very adrenaline-filled afternoon.
This seems to be a good walk with yourself, going to the places you want and not having to coordinate with someone else to get things done it's great. Sometimes it's good to have that freedom of being able to go and have a good time without depending on others.
What about your cat? I hope it has come home. Sometimes they are very elusive and curious, maybe it was just for a walk on some other roof or neighborhood 😂. I have 8 cats and they do that all the time, it would be amazing to know how far they go but the good thing is that they always come back.
Welcome to the Daily Blog community, Mac. Thanks for sharing your day here 😊.
Cheers ❤️!
