St. Thomas Aquinas defines and establishes the vices and anti-values that give rise to other sins of the same or greater magnitude and classifies them in what we know today like the seven Capitals Sins. Although they are not explicitly contemplated in the Bible, they are referenced throughout the text.
The most faithful believers of the Catholic religion try to avoid committing some of these sins at all costs. It is important to refresh and know each one of them so as not to get confused with some modern terms, so follow me as I will present you a string of seven posts, explaining each one of them.
So we know that the seven deadly sins in essence are a series of criteria determined by Catholicism, representing all behavior of the human race that must be avoided at all costs so as not to fall into temptation and commit sin, one of those behaviors is lived, it is assumed that from him are born the so-called capital sins. Now the seven deadly sins are as follows:
- Pride
- Greed
- Lust
- Envy
- Gluttony
- Wrath
- Sloth
Pride
One of the main capital sins is pride, because it is that feeling that a person has of believing they are superior to others, feeling different and overvaluing and showing off their own qualities above those of other people. It is necessary to emphasize that those arrogant people are incapable of recognizing their own mistakes and admitting when they are wrong.
A proud person constantly tries to minimize others, but with his arrogant attitude, he generally creates an almost immediate rejection by other people, who repudiates this type of action.
The main characteristics of a proud person are:
- Does not accept criticism and is unable to evaluate himself.
- You need to be constantly recognized to raise your ego.
- You always want to be the center of attention.
- Unable to empathize.
- Has the perception of superiority to everyone.
- You may suffer for the success of others, for the annoyance that this causes.
- He hardly knows how to ask for forgiveness and when he does it is because there is no other remedy.
- You need to be praised at all times for the successes you have had.
- You are unable to assume responsibilities.
Now, etymologically speaking, all the capital sins are attributed to a specific demon and Lucifer known as the fallen angel, is the one who is attributed to be the demon of pride, vanity and arrogance since for having been endowed with Great beauty and intelligence was thrown into the kingdom of hell, for his arrogance and for committing the first and only original sin, that is, wanting to be equal to God .
Remember: Before the capital sin of pride is the virtue of HUMILITY we must be modest and humble in every moment of our lives.
