My opinion about the movie: Love and Other Drugs [ENG/ESP]

Hello, friends. Today I would like to share with you my opinion about a movie that despite being from 2010, I just saw it yesterday. I am a fan of comedies, so I made the decision to watch it. I am referring to: Love and Other Drugs.

Hola, amigos. Hoy quisiera compartir con ustedes mi opinión sobre una película que a pesar de ser del 2010, apenas ayer la vi. Soy un admirador de las comedias, por lo que tomé la decisión de verla. Me refiero a: Amor y otras drogas.

At first I thought I was in the presence of a movie that made use of ridiculous or exaggerated gestures to generate laughter; I couldn't have been more wrong. It takes a very well used romantic turn that little by little traces patterns. Personally I think it becomes much more profound the romantic situations than the light comedic lines that dissipate as the plot picks up steam.

Al principio pensé que estaba en presencia de una película que hacía uso de gestos ridículos o exagerados para generar risas; no pude estar más equivocado. Toma un giro romántico muy bien utilizado que poco a poco va trazando pautas. Personalmente creo que llega a ser mucho más profundas las situaciones románticas que las ligeras líneas cómicas que se van disipando mientras toma fuerza la trama.

The story follows Jamie Randall, who is a drug salesman used to getting everything he sets his mind to in a somewhat peculiar way, brilliantly played by Jake Gyllenhaal, and Maggie Murdock, a young woman suffering from Parkinson's disease, played by the beautiful Anne Hathaway. The performance of both is captivating, achieving a gradual evolution. This keeps you attentive to the situations and events they go through. The script is so well organized that without reading the synopsis there is no doubt that it is based on real events.

It touches on sensitive issues such as love, intimacy and illness. The depiction of Maggie's Parkinson's disease adds more realism and depth to the film. It touches on sensitive issues of those who see it. Making me reflect on the fragility of life. It certainly manages to hit our feelings and can make us cry at some point or another.

La historia sigue a Jamie Randall, quien es un vendedor de farmacos acostumbrado a obtener todo lo que se propone de una forma un tanto peculiar, interpretado de manera brillante por Jake Gyllenhaal, y Maggie Murdock, una joven enferma de Parkinson, interpretada por la hermosa Anne Hathaway. La actuación de ambos es cautivadora, logrando una paulatina evolución. Esto provoca que te mantenga atento a las situaciones y sucesos por los que van transitando. El guión está tan bien organizado que sin leer la sinopsis no quedan dudas de que es basada en hechos reales.

Esta toca temas sensibles como el amor, la intimidad y la enfermedad. La representación de la enfermedad de Parkinson de Maggie agrega más realismo y profundidad la película. Tocando fibras sensibles de aquellos que la vemos. Logrando hacerme reflexionar sobre la fragilidad de la vida. Sin duda logra golpear nuestros sentimientos y puede hacernos llorar en algún que otro momento.

The film highlights the commercialization of drugs and how this affects people on a personal level. Although they address serious issues, this one manages to balance seriousness with moderate humor. It is not a perfection of cinema, but it does manage to penetrate the viewer. So much so that you feel empathy for the characters. For that love that we need and want so much in difficult circumstances.

Jake Gyllenhaal offers a magnetic performance that makes you fall in love with his character despite his flaws. Anne Hathaway, on the other hand, shines with her convincing performance. Achieving a chemistry, more than convincing; realistic.

La película destaca la comercialización de medicamentos y cómo esto afecta a las personas en un nivel personal. Aunque abordan problemas serios, esta logra equilibrar la seriedad con un humor moderado. No es una perfección del cine, pero si logra penetrar en el que la ve. Tanto que sientes empatía por los personajes. Por ese amor que tanto necesitamos y deseamos en circunstancias difíciles.

Jake Gyllenhaal ofrece una interpretación magnética que te hace enamorarte de su personaje a pesar de sus defectos. Anne Hathaway, por otro lado, brilla con su actuación convincente. Logrando una química, más que convincente; realista.

Love and Other Drugs is not just a romantic comedy, it is a look at human feelings. The narrative and the good performances make it a film you must see, mainly in the company of loved ones. Because, for sure, it will leave you a little sentimental. If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it, you won't be disappointed.

La banda sonora, aunque no destaca de forma individual, complementa adecuadamente las excelentes actuaciones.

Amor y otras drogas no es solo una comedia romántica, es una mirada a los sentimientos humanos. La narrativa y las buenas actuaciones la hacen una película que debes de ver, principalmente en compañía de los seres queridos. Porque, de seguro, te dejará un poco sentimental. Si aún no la has visto, te la recomiendo, no te decepcionará.
