More than just a stroll through the Old Square
A few weeks ago, I had the incredible opportunity to see the beauty of Plaza Vieja, located in the heart of Old Havana. I must admit that, realistically, I had never had the pleasure of seeing a square as beautiful as this one.
I was able to visit this place shortly after noon. I had not had lunch, so I decided to sit at one of the tables that were strategically located on one side of the square, where drinks and food were offered. Not being from Havana, I am not familiar with the place and who would have thought that this is one of the most expensive places I could find?
To my surprise, the place not only charged for its exquisite views, but the prices were so high that a simple pizza was equivalent to half of my entire month's salary. And I am not exaggerating. I opted to stay on an empty stomach and continue enjoying the surroundings.
Despite this minor setback, the Plaza Vieja never ceased to amaze me. The statue of the boy with the rooster captured my attention immediately. Its beauty and artistic detail were simply masterful. I couldn't help but wonder if I was in the famous Pigeon Park, as these majestic birds seemed to populate every part of the plaza. Well I was right, when I asked, they confirmed it.
Not only the statues and birds made this place a visual paradise, but also the cobblestone floor that made up the square, where you can find bronze tiles that besides decorating, represent a specific historical moment. Another factor that makes this place unique is its diverse architecture, surrounded by buildings of different styles, such as baroque. It is much more than a public space; it is a living testimony of the city's history.
The Plaza Vieja managed to conquer me with its historical charm and impressive architecture. With its elegant fountain, majestic sculptures and unique atmosphere, this place is much more than just a tourist destination. It is breathtaking.
Although my stomach was not as satisfied as I had hoped, I was totally captivated by the place. If I have the opportunity to return someday, I would enjoy its majesty again. Although I would like to have more time to stop and contemplate more closely those details that I surely was not able to perceive.

Very nice photos of Havana. And yes, everything there is very expensive, it is designed to attract tourists, hence the high prices.
Imagine, this is the first time I go to Havana for more than one day. Although I didn't go for a visit I had time to do it; I mistakenly sat in that place and a piza cost more than 4 usd. Imagine my reaction. The guajiro got up quickly from his chair.
I would have gotten up too without thinking jeje
There was no other way
