Ni siquiera sé por dónde empezar, no sé si ustedes han tenido ese sentimiento de que lee un libro y todavía meses después no saben si les gustó o lo odiaron un poco, o incluso ambas cosas al mismo tiempo. Les cuento rápidamente, Powerless es un libro que se hizo muy viral en TikTok porque las personas pensaban que eran Enemies to Lovers y si leen mi blog saben que yo hablo demasiado de este tema, ya que es uno de mis tropes literarios favoritos. Pero también se fue muy viral porque había personas que decían que este libro era un plagio de obras como los juegos del hambre y la reina Roja, particularmente en mi humilde opinión yo que leí el primer libro y gran parte del segundo no considero que esto sea del todo cierto más bien siento que fue una inspiración en algunos aspectos de esos libros y que no tiene nada de malo, ya que a fin de cuentas es una historia relativamente común, pero que no tiene nada de malo. Incluso es importante resaltar que esas dos historias están mejor desarrolladas en sus áreas que esta historia.

I don't even know where to start, I don't know if you guys have had that feeling where you read a book and still months later you don't know if you liked it or hated it a little bit, or even both at the same time. I'll tell you quickly, Powerless is a book that went very viral on TikTok because people thought it was Enemies to Lovers and if you read my blog you know that I talk about this topic way too much, as it's one of my favorite literary tropes. But it also went very viral because there were people who said that this book was a plagiarism of works like The Hunger Games and The Red Queen, particularly in my humble opinion I who read the first book and much of the second I do not consider this to be entirely true rather I feel that it was an inspiration in some aspects of those books and that there is nothing wrong with it, since after all it is a relatively common story, but there is nothing wrong with it. It is even important to highlight that those two stories are better developed in their areas than this story.

Para entrar más en contexto, Powerless narra la historia de una población la cual fue atacada por una plaga donde muchas personas se enfermaron y producto de eso quedaron con efectos secundarios llamados poderes mágicos. Estos son los afectó a un pueblo y ese pueblo, pues como que se cerró y echó a todas las personas que consideraba ordinarias, porque con el tiempo, según ellos, consideraban que esos ordinarios afectaban negativamente los poderes de las personas más puras por así decirlo. También es importante saber que en este pueblo o pequeños reino vive gente que tiene poderes muy bajos, muy sencillos y esas personas viven en un grado de pobreza bastante alto. El caso es que muchas personas dicen que es un plagio a los juegos del hambre porque en este libro se desarrolla un torneo donde escogen a ciertos participantes, los llevan a una arena, estos entrenan, tienen pruebas y al final hay un solo ganador. Pero acá hay diferencias bastante claras, primero no agarran personas pobres agarran a personas con poderes fuertes y otras personas que tienen poderes un poco más comunes los ponen a competir, pero no fomentan el asesinato entre ellos si pasa, pues no hay ningún problema, pero tampoco es como que deba ser un duelo a muerte y el ganador tampoco es que recibe gran reconocimiento como los juegos del hambre, sino que el torneo es más como para celebrar el hecho de qué la plaga existió y les dejó como regalo los poderes mágicos.

To go into more context, Powerless tells the story of a town which was attacked by a plague where many people got sick and as a result of that they were left with side effects called magical powers. These are the ones that affected a town and that town, as it closed and threw out all the people considered ordinary, because over time, according to them, they considered that these ordinary people negatively affected the powers of the purest people so to speak. It is also important to know that in this village or small kingdom live people who have very low, very simple powers and those people live in a rather high degree of poverty. The thing is that many people say that it is a plagiarism to the hunger games because in this book a tournament is developed where they choose certain participants, they take them to an arena, they train, they have tests and at the end there is only one winner. But here there are clear differences, first they don't take poor people, they take people with strong powers and other people who have more common powers, they put them to compete, but they don't encourage murder among them, if it happens, there is no problem, but it's not like it should be a duel to the death and the winner doesn't receive great recognition like the hunger games, but the tournament is more like to celebrate the fact that the plague existed and left them magical powers as a gift.

Ahora, por otro lado, porque dicen que es una plagio a la Reina roja porque la protagonista finge ser alguien que no es en un mundo de personas con poderes y con estatus, con la diferencia clara de qué la protagonista de la reina roja, Mare, si tenía poderes, solo que era un caso único. Y acá Paedyn, la protagonista, es una persona ordinaria que finge tener un poder mental como psíquica. El punto de esta historia es que ella vive en incógnito siendo ladrona básicamente, pero se topa con uno de los príncipes, el segundo príncipe quien está destinado va a ser el ejecutor del reino ella lo salva y termina siendo escogida para participar en el torneo. Evidentemente en todo el desarrollo del libro nadie se da cuenta de qué ella no tiene poderes porque finge muy bien lo que es. Y evidentemente termina enamorándose por así decirlo de Kai, la persona por la cual yo termine de leer ese libro porque realmente no me gustó del todo, pero debo de decir que Kai lo hizo todo mucho más entretenido y también le dio un poco de sentido a esta historia.

Now, on the other hand, because they say that it is a plagiarism to the Red Queen because the protagonist pretends to be someone she is not in a world of people with powers and status, with the clear difference that the protagonist of the Red Queen, Mare, did have powers, only that it was a unique case. And here Paedyn, the protagonist, is an ordinary person who pretends to have a mental power as a psychic. The point of this story is that she lives incognito as a thief basically, but she runs into one of the princes, the second prince who is destined to be the executor of the kingdom, she saves him and ends up being chosen to participate in the tournament. Evidently in the whole development of the book nobody realizes that she has no powers because she pretends very well what she is. And evidently she ends up falling in love so to speak with Kai, the person I ended up reading that book because I really didn't like it at all, but I must say that Kai made it all much more entertaining and also gave some sense to this story.

Ok todo este libro es el torneo que les mencioné, Paedyn fingiendo para poder sobrevivir y haciendo como amistad y enemistad con el príncipe Kai y también con el futuro rey, que ya olvide el nombre. Mi problema con este libro es que a nivel de trama de aventura lo que es el torneo no queda del todo muy claro y empieza muy tarde toda la acción y lo más entretenido. Además dando mi humilde opinión el torneo me parece algo total y completamente innecesario no tiene coherencia que suceda como lo está haciendo quizás la autora se inspiró en los huevos del hambre pero lo quiso ser distinto en vez de usar personas pobres utilizar personas con poderes extraordinarios pero la verdad es que no tiene sentido porque ellos hacen pocos la verdad no es muy coherente que se maten entre sí por un torneo y demostrar que alguien es más fuerte que otro. Por otro lado, un punto muy importante que a mí me desespero es que si bien se nota la química enorme que hay entre Paedyn y Kai, entre ellos no pasa absolutamente nada más que un tira y afloja más que provocaciones y demasiada tensión, lo cual te mantiene muy entretenido yendo, pero es desesperante cuando pasan todos los capítulos de todo el libro y los protagonistas no se besan hasta la mitad del libro dos, y lo tengo que decir por si alguien está entusiasmado a leerlo tiene que saber que esto es un Slow burn muy muy muy lento.

Ok this whole book is the tournament I mentioned to you, Paedyn pretending in order to survive and making like friendship and enmity with prince Kai and also with the future king, who I forget the name already. My problem with this book is that at the level of adventure plot what is the tournament is not quite clear and starts very late all the action and the most entertaining. Also giving my humble opinion the tournament seems to me something totally and completely unnecessary it has no coherence that happens as it is doing maybe the author was inspired by the hunger eggs but wanted it to be different instead of using poor people use people with extraordinary powers but the truth is that it makes no sense because they do few the truth is not very coherent that they kill each other for a tournament and show that someone is stronger than another. On the other hand, a very important point that I despair is that although you notice the enormous chemistry between Paedyn and Kai, between them absolutely nothing happens but a tug of war more than provocations and too much tension, which keeps you very entertained going, but it is desperate when all the chapters of the whole book pass and the protagonists do not kiss until the middle of book two, and I have to say it if anyone is excited to read it you have to know that this is a Slow burn very very very very very slow.

Finalmente, les puedo decir que yo le di unas 2.5 estrellas de cinco porque si bien la historia no era demasiado aburrida, mi problema era que tardaba mucho en llegar a la acción y que el romance de esta historia es lo principal, pero es demasiado lento y yo me desesperé un poco. Porque si estuviéramos leyendo el libro de fantasía pura con más acción evidentemente el romance queda en un segundo plano y es totalmente válido, pero en este libro el mundo no está para nada desarrollado hay demasiado hueco en la trama hay cosas que están, pero son inútiles porque no se utilizan entonces no hay desarrollo de acción y eso deja al romance como trama principal. Yo solo leí este libro, el cual me tomó más de un mes terminar y me dio bloqueo, porque cae me gustó mucho, yo adoré a ese hombre, es todo lo que está bien, tiene responsabilidad afectiva, es precioso y tiene una personalidad sarcástica que te saca sonrisas por cada palabra que ese hombre dice. Además, solo me leí el segundo libro por él y no es que Paedyn sea una mala protagonista femenina, realmente es muy buena, a veces me desesperaba un poco, pero realmente él resalta muchísimo en el libro. Cuando él termine la segunda entrega voy a traerles mis opiniones, pero solo recalcó que la estoy leyendo por él, de hecho la pausé hace mucho tiempo y tengo que retomarla justamente para poder traerle esta reseña, así que roguemos que sea posible darle fin a esta historia y nos leemos pronto!

Finally, I can tell you that I gave it about 2.5 stars out of five because while the story wasn't too boring, my problem was that it took too long to get to the action and the romance in this story is the main thing, but it's too slow and I despaired a bit. Because if we were reading the pure fantasy book with more action obviously the romance is in the background and it is totally valid, but in this book the world is not developed at all there is too much plot hole there are things that are there, but they are useless because they are not used then there is no action development and that leaves the romance as the main plot. I only read this book, which took me over a month to finish and it gave me block, because it falls I loved it, I adored that man, he is everything that is right, he has affective responsibility, he is gorgeous and he has a sarcastic personality that brings smiles out of you for every word that man says. Also, I only read the second book because of him and it's not that Paedyn is a bad female lead, she really is very good, sometimes I despaired a bit, but he really stands out a ton in the book. When he finishes the second installment I will bring you my opinions, but I only emphasize that I am reading it for him, in fact I paused it a long time ago and I have to take it up again just to be able to bring you this review, so let's pray that it will be possible to finish this story and we will read each other soon!
