First Walk Of The Year - Enjoying The Village Scenery.

Warmest greetings to you all friends and a happy new year to you. May we all have a prosperous and blissful new year.

It's good to be back here again to share these beautiful photos I captured on my walk today. For over a week now I've been at my elder sister's place, at one of the villages where she works as a health officer so I can rest well and recover too. So waking up this morning I felt so happy about the progress on my recovery, and I decided to take a walk around the village.

• As I stepped out to the road the first thing that caught my attention was this tall Udara tree - Africa star apple.

Udara is one of the local fruits here and it's in season now that's why you see the fruits already ripe and ready to be plucked.

• Moving further I saw these wares on display. This is just one of the typical ways some villagers display whatever they sell.

You may be wondering what these stuffs are, don't worry, I will tell. What you see inside that big plastic bucket are fufu, one of the popular local foods in my country. Virtually every tribe in my country eats fufu and it's made from fermented cassava.
The other bucket hung on the bamboo has fried groundnuts inside while the plastic bottles contains fuel..Don't be surprised, this is village lifestyle 😂.

• Next capture is this one. Two youngsters taking a goat for a walk, hehehe.

It's not actually a walk but they are taking the goat to be fed. Most people who rear goats usually take them out in the mornings to a place - field or bush so they can find grasses to graze and equally bring them back on the evenings.

• It would be out of place if I didn't show you one of the local bars there, lol.

These bottles you see on the table contains fresh delicious palm wine inside. It was actually the shop owner who asked me to capture them when he saw that I was taking pictures on my walk.

• And here we have a bicycle repair and maintenance workshop

Being a village it wouldn't be out of place to see most people - the old and young riding bicycles or using it for one chore or the other as it is one of the easiest and most popular means of transportation.

Hardly will you not find a bicycle or two in every home, even if they own cars or motorcycles.

• Getting to the school field, some boys were having a football training.

There's a football competition ongoing so most of the players come out in the mornings to train.

• All my life, I haven't seen such number of lizards gathered at a place.

I was both shocked and surprised when my eyes caught this sight. Who knows they might be having a kinderd meeting, lol 😂.

• A farm produce - ike ugu (pumpkin gourd) from the most popular vegetable called pumpkin leaves with it's local name as ụgụ.

Just like the pumpkin gourd is planted to produce leaves, it can also be eaten. Just harvest it when mature, cut open, pick the seeds then cook until soft. The seed is very sweet and nutritious too. You might want give a try, I bet you will enjoy eating it.

• Finally we have a plantain tree being supported with a bamboo stick so it won't bend or fall as a result of the fruit it carries.

Moving around the village and seeing all these captivating things really made my day and I appreciated the simplicity of the village life the more.
I really enjoyed the walk, as I got home feeling happier and refreshed. Village life is sweet as you get to enjoy being close to nature, cool breeze, fresh vegetables and other farm produce.
