CHILD ABUSE
In our society today, cases of child abuse have become rampant, while many cases go unnoticed or neglected because the victim may refuse to speak up out of fear of the abuser or fear of being rebuked by their parents, yes some parents don't believe their children when they open up to them about an abuse on them and such parents are not deserving of the role of a parent. The most alarming part is that most child abusers are family members, friends, teachers and neighbors of the victim.
Victims of child abuse grow up traumatized, most never remain the same again after undergoing such a painful experience. Children are to be protected not abused, raped and molested.
" The sexual abuse and exploitation of children is one of the most heinous crimes conceivable, a violation of mankind's most basic duty to protect the innocent"
James T. Walsh.<
What can be done to curb child abuse?
More stronger laws and punishment should be adopted especially in developing societies as these would deter any potential child abuser. Secondly, more human rights organisations could be set up focused in helping child abuse victims seek justice against their abusers. Thirdly parents should ensure the safety of their kids by knowing and vetting those around them for anything suspicious, parents on this note should do well to pay attention to their kids, especially if there's any changes in behaviour. Lastly but not the least, you reading this can do more in campaigning against child abuse, report anything suspicious or otherwise to law enforcement agencies and human rights organisations if you see one, speak out, because keeping mute makes you as guilty as the abuser themselves. Protect the children around you.
