Hello Community, here I am to participate in this weekly initiative created by @millycf1976. It's the first time I'm participating and I'm very happy to do so.
The topic to write about this week is:
What kind of minimalist practices could you introduce in your workplace?
Given that not all people think and, therefore, act in the same way, we can find all kinds of situations in the workplace. And although many of them can be good, there is also too much complaining, rushing, urgency, blaming others, among others.
All this creates a working environment that is not ideal for doing your job and giving the best of yourself. So it is up to us to turn it around in some way or at least improve it.
I approached minimalism a few years ago and adopted a simpler way of thinking and living. Without going to extremes, which I don't think is necessary, I took what worked for me and helped me to see life differently. With simplicity, tranquillity and a positive mind.
Obviously at work I try to follow my own line, to be true to myself and to my way of thinking and understanding life. I don't get carried away by the environment and the ideas of others, but counteract it and maintain a balance.
What minimalist practices could I introduce? There are many things that can be done, but I will focus on 3 that I already try to put into practice.
Looking on the bright side of things
I think it is a good practice to bring a positive outlook when looking at problems or difficulties that may arise in the workplace. This allows you to see things from another angle and, therefore, find other solutions or have other tools at your disposal that can benefit you. And this enriches everyone. Complaining and saying how bad things are is easy and contagious. So let's look at the positive.
Listening
Listening is something so easy and at the same time so difficult that we often don't practice it. And it is essential for good communication. If we listen, we avoid conflicts, misunderstandings, making mistakes, stress and a lot of things that complicate our work and in general our coexistence. Therefore, we must listen, but we must listen actively.
Keeping calm and patience
By keeping calm we can think better and give a better response when they come to us with urgencies and "yesterday's tasks". It may be the case that the urgency is not so urgent and you can let your colleague or client know that.
Having patience prevents the other people you work with from getting stressed and allows them to work at ease and according to their time schedule.
By introducing these three practices we can greatly improve the working environment and encourage everyone to give their best.
I thank @graciousvic for inviting me to participate in this initiative, and I invite @palomap3 to share with us her minimalist practices at work.
Which ones would you introduce? Let me know in the comments.
Best regards

We should learn to listen to people and act rightly toward them at our place of work.
Nice writeup dear friend, thank you for honouring my invite
Listening to others I think is the pending issue for many people. We are so close and yet so far away.
Thank you for commenting.
People really loves those who give them listening ears
