⚒⚒ Repairing an iron fence that has rusted /// Reparando una reja de hierro que se ha oxidado ⚒⚒

On this occasion I am writing to you with the purpose of teaching you how to repair fences. In this part, I am going to recover the fence of the house of my wife @labella.nay that is devastated by corrosion and saltpeter. First, I remove the fence to be repaired and then, with a grinder, I cut the damaged parts, removing the parts damaged by the salt from the door, without having to call a blacksmith, but you can do it yourself with the appropriate tools.

En esta ocasión me dirijo a ustedes con la finalidad de enseñarles cómo reparar rejas, en esta parte, voy a recuperar la reja de la entrada de mi esposa @labella.nay que está devastada por la corrosión y el salitre. Primero, desprendo la reja a reparar y luego, con un esmeril, corto las partes dañadas, desprendiendo de la puerta las partes dañadas por el salitre, sin necesidad de llamar a a un herrero si no que usted mismo con las herramientas adecuadas lo puede realizar.

After removing all the damaged parts, I proceed to clean the affected area with a wire brush to remove any remains of corrosion or dirt.

Después de desprender todas las piezas dañadas, procedo a limpiar la zona afectada con un cepillo de alambre para eliminar cualquier resto de corrosión o suciedad.

Then, I cut the replacement parts to size, using good quality scraps left over from construction or changes to some other metal structure but that can be used to make sure the repair is durable. Next, I proceed to weld piece by piece, each one cut to size, and then place it in its corresponding place. I secure each piece with solder to prevent shifting or falling off.

Luego, corto las piezas de repuesto a la medida necesaria, utilizando retazos de buena calidad que sobran de construcciones o de cambios de alguna otra estructura metálica pero que se pueden utilizar para asegurarme de que la reparación sea duradera. A continuación, procedo a soldar pieza por pieza, cada una cortada a la medida, para posteriormente colocarla en su lugar correspondiente. Aseguro cada pieza con soldadura para evitar que se muevan o se caigan.

The grinder is used after welding to leave an even surface without excess iron in the welding points, trying only to file so as not to affect the points, and in this way a uniform structure can be seen, with the help of my son Diego who He holds the door for me, I proceed with the grinder.

Se utiliza el esmeril luego de soldar para dejar una superficie pareja sin excesos de hierro en los puntos de soldadura procurando solo limar para no afectar los puntos, y que de esta manera se pueda ver una estructura uniforme, con la ayuda de mi hijo Diego que me sostiene la puerta procedo con el esmeril.

For an additional finish, use pieces of mantle that have already been removed from a construction where they have replaced mantle. Those pieces that bounce, I grab and wet them with gasoline, letting them dissolve for a while, and then I stir to give consistency to the paint. Then, I apply the paint to the fence and thus achieve a better finish for the recycled work.

Para darle un acabado adicional, utilice pedazos de manto que ya se han despegado de alguna construcción donde han reemplazado manto. Esos pedazos que botan, los agarro y los mojo con gasolina, dejándolos disolver un rato, y luego revuelvo para darle consistencia a la pintura. Luego, aplico la pintura en la reja y así consigo un mejor acabado del trabajo reciclado.

After placing all the pieces, I apply a coat of primer which is to seal the surface and form a strong, durable bond and to protect the metal from corrosion and make sure the paint adheres well. Next, I apply a special metal paint, chosen to resist corrosion and wear.

Luego de colocar todas las piezas, aplico una capa de imprimación el cual es para sellar la superficie y formar un enlace fuerte, duradero y para proteger el metal de la corrosión y asegurarme de que la pintura se adhiera bien. Después, aplico una pintura especial para metales, elegida para resistir la corrosión y el desgaste.

Finally, I let the paint dry and check the fence to make sure everything is in place and there are no mistakes. With this, I finish the repair of the fence and I am sure that it will last a long time without the need for additional repairs.

Finalmente, dejo secar la pintura y reviso la reja para asegurarme de que todo esté en su lugar y que no haya errores. Con esto, termino la reparación de la reja y estoy seguro de que durará mucho tiempo sin necesidad de reparaciones adicionales.
