Trust the Inner Voice - Weekend-Engagement: WEEK 194

@galenkp, you've not made it easy!

I could write a book if I were to answer in depth all the thought-provoking questions for this week's Weekend-Engagement topics: WEEK 1941.
Which one am I going to respond to? Dunno, really not, at this stage!

The Topics

  • If you could give someone you have wronged a heartfelt apology, who would it be and why? How would you feel afterwards and how would it affect you moving forward?
  • Have you met any interesting people when travelling? Tell us about them, what you found interesting and how you managed to connect.
  • How do you handle rejection, well or badly, and why? How has it affected you positively or negatively?
  • What three elements of life would you say are the most important to you and why?

The Apology

Too personal, so I hit the delete button for the finer detail, it's my heavy sack to carry, or rather, cross to bear!
However, I would say sorry, I should have listened to my instinct, sat on that chair all night long, and not been blinded by denial.
An apology would lighten my load, and I'd be able to forgive myself for not facing the facts!

The traveler

Although I've walked many pathways along my travels, I'll be turning this question around, and tell you a little about one of the many fascinating travellers I've met here in our Airbnb.
The most memorable one who stands out was an exciting and intriguing period when we hosted a member from an elite branch of criminal investigators for a lengthy stay during an investigation. We respected the need for discretion, but as trust developed, we learned a little more about this man of integrity. His bravery albeit humbleness, work ethic, and passion to wipe out corruption, are rare qualities.
Poles apart in life and work yet we felt a kinship right from the outset.

Rejection

I crawl into my shell, and handle it very badly, but do learn lessons, and eventually try to remedy what caused the rejection in the first place!

The Three Elements of Life

...I value the most...

Respect

...for all, young or old, rich or poor; from the lowest occupation to the highest ranking person.
Everybody deserves to be treated with the utmost respect, although I must admit some are a challenge.
I do believe this is one of the ways one can bring out the best in most people, although some are too set in their ways.

Empathy

... I believe in being compassionate and trying to understand people. We are all so different, and I try and look beyond the present and put myself in their shoes. Surely something happened in the past to make them act the way that they do. The world would be a better place if we could all show just a little compassion and empathize with the people who cross our pathways.
Lend a helping hand, strike up a conversation, and listen, really listen to what that person is saying.

Live a Life of Meaning

I wake up each day with rose-tinted glasses, although they became tainted for a long while following a loss I did not expect to happen so untimely. But, I am back to making the most of each day, once again looking for little miracles all around, and starting to make new memories. Life has changed in a big way, and there still are times that I'm overwhelmed by my loss, but as if by a miracle, something good comes along, and brightens the day.

Treasure each moment in life. Those moments become memories that can never be taken away, no matter what!

Hey @lizelle, so wise and lovely thoughts here!

Little miracles do brighten our days ✨ and if our hearts are pure, full of respect to others and with empathy, it's easier to let those miracles work in, and around us 😇

Thank you @mipiano, yes it's so heartwarming when I see guests arriving, some looking very glum, and slowly start warming up when they feel they're in a 'safe' space where they're treated with warmth and respect.
Have a wonderful Sunday🤗

Oh, you have answered everything ... almost everything ... with much wisdom.
Life is not all roses, but how nice when something good comes along, and brightens the day.

Thanks, @lizelle.

Thank you @nanixxx, I read your post with interest, and yes, life is not a bed of roses, but we have it within ourselves to make those small changes, as you rightly pointed out.
I particularly appreciated this quote that you shared, so very true:

The one who is depressed is living in the past, the one who is anxious is living in the future, and the one who is at peace is living in the present.

Awe that's such a nice thing to say @owasco.
I'm so much better, no pain except when I forget and do certain movements, no bending, but I'm so thankful it went well. Can't wait to be able to get stuck into the garden again.
I've been watching the Ricky Gervais series After Life, a 2019 comedy drama, brilliant, was thinking you may enjoy it (it's on Netflix) Really worthwhile watching.

I'm watching Derek now (when we have electricity, having load shedding again and now today planned maintenance in our area! It should be back on by 4pm, but nothing is a certainty here!

Inner voice more often than not is the right voice to listen to. Older now climbing into our shell is more difficult, we often blurt before we think.

Training oneself to consider background some arrive from, one learns to emphasize quickly, we most definitely arrive from all walks in life.
