Get me to the Hair Salon on Time
So you think life as a Silver Blogger means lazing around the home and taking things slower?
Nope, you're in for a shock, especially if you walk in my footsteps, and many of my fellow Silver Bloggers' I'm sure!
My mop of hair was getting wilder as the days turned into weeks and then months ;) The last time I managed to get to the hair salon was just under three months, a couple of days before the loss of Mom Lily!
My feathers almost looked like these poor Naked Neck Pullets who were walking outside my favourite little hair salon just down the road, while Sir Rooster was very well-groomed :) No one knows to whom they belong!
I had not been out on the roads ever since the horrific night of the Subtropical Depression “Issa” that caused much destruction to property and loss of lives.
Everyone had been saying how busy some of the roads were at any time of the day, as many roads were closed due to damage, but I did not realize just how busy!
A trip that used to take me 5 minutes, now took 20 minutes, I felt like I was on my way to work like back in my working days when driving through peak traffic!
The reason for the diversion to my hair salon is this damaged bridge.
Screenshot from a video shared on our community Whatsapp group.
Hubby was driving and I was snapping away, shocked at seeing the damage everywhere, and all the debris that had washed into a river along the way.
Make-shift sandbags to try and stop the debris washing onto the road again. The authorities are working around the clock as the task is way greater than we could ever have imagined!
We're still behind the same vehicle and the going was slow!
We finally made it...not on time...but my hairdresser said that because of that main road that is the quickest route to her salon being closed, her business has dropped considerably!
She is a perfectionist, the most awesome woman, and I'm not sure about my other Hive gal-friends, but my hairdresser is almost like my counselor as she knows me very well. She used to cut Mom's hair, so shed a couple of tears with me, but I always feel lighter when I leave there; not just because of losing some of my feathers, but because I've shed some of that load I've been carrying on my shoulders, and we both end up chuckling away as I hear all the latest gossip!
No before-pic, you'd run a mile, only the afterpic ;)
The birds behind me are chuckling away and wondering what this old bird is doing as their feathers look way better ;)
Today is Earth Day and also day 22 of my attempt at #Hiveblopomo, an initiative of the awesome bizzy Queen Bee @traciyork, encouraging all Hivers to write a blog a day for the month of April. Day 30 is not so very far away, and I've really enjoyed this challenge thus far!

Haha, Lizzie! You made me laugh. 😂 Good thing you took the time to go and trim your feathers and tame them a bit, LOL. Those moments of pampering are needed from time to time to lift our spirits. I hope the reconstruction and recovery of the damage don't take too long. Let's hope everyone does what they have to do.
Happy weekend!🤗
LOL, you're so right Eli, a gal needs a little pampering now and then, certainly lifted my spirits and my head does feel lighter😉
There's just so much work, I really feel sorry for the people who actually have to go out and risk their lives in the restoration works, but more so the ones who had to rescue people who were trapped during the storm!
That poor hen looks so bedraggled, I think she needs to walk into the hair salon and make an appointment 😅
Thank you for stopping by, I'm hoping for a quiet weekend as all the guests are regulars who are very easy-going🤗
I'm glad your head feels lighter ;) And I agree that the hen needs to be pampered as well.😂😂
Well, hopefully, all the work will be done, and the authorities will take measures to prevent such damage in the future.
I'm glad everything is calmer this weekend. You deserve a good rest.
PIZZA!
Love the new 'do! And those naked necks are funny - I have a few of them and just think they are hilarious looking. I just gave my pastor two naked necks I had been raising from chicks because they ended up being roosters, and I don't need any more!! So sad to see all of the devastation there. It is amazing what water can do...so powerful! Blessings to you.
Thank you so much for the good wishes @apanamamama! Those naked necks really look so funny, poor things😅
My hubby who's in engineering always says he's so afraid of water as it is a powerful force, life-giving but also life-threatening!
I was reading about the devastating snowstorm @farm-mom & @thebigsweed have just gone through, sounds very scary as well!
We're just thankful that none of our family and friends were killed 🙏🏻
Blessings to you as well🤗
So thankful that all of your friends and family are safe.
One thing is evident that retirement is not lazing around, im visiting my Grandparents currently who are both 80+ and they just dont stop, up and down the whole time, it makes even my head spin
So you've seen it first hand now! A funny thought just crossed my mind, maybe we're all afraid that we're running out of time? 😅
Possibly, but staying on the move keeps you young
