Pleasant experience at the Meliá Cohiba Hotel [en/es]

A few days ago I had the opportunity to visit the Meliá Cohiba Hotel in Havana, a true icon of modern architecture in Cuba. My visit was motivated by an invitation from my friend @indipnash91, who works in the hotel's customer service area. From the moment I crossed the threshold of the lobby, I was amazed by the elegance and refinement that emanate from every corner of this impressive building.

The Meliá Cohiba Hotel, inaugurated in 1994, stands imposingly in the Vedado neighborhood of the Plaza de la Revolución municipality, on Paseo Avenue and 1st Street, right in front of Havana's Malecón. Its architectural design combines sharp angles, stone and glass walls, giving it a modern and distinctive appearance. This large 25-story building houses 462 rooms, including 61 suites.

Hace unos días tuve la oportunidad de visitar el Hotel Meliá Cohiba en La Habana, un verdadero ícono de la arquitectura moderna en Cuba. Mi visita fue motivada por una invitación de mi amiga @indipnash91 , quien trabaja en el área de atención al cliente del hotel. Desde el momento en que crucé el umbral del lobby, quedé maravillada por la elegancia y el refinamiento que emanan de cada rincón de este impresionante edificio.
El Hotel Meliá Cohiba, inaugurado en 1994, se erige imponente en el barrio de Vedado del municipio Plaza de la Revolución, en la Avenida Paseo y calle 1ra, justo frente al Malecón habanero. Su diseño arquitectónico combina ángulos agudos, sus paredes de piedra y vidrio, lo que le confiere una apariencia moderna y distintiva. Este gran edificio de 25 plantas alberga 462 habitaciones, incluidas 61 suites.

One of the spaces that most impressed me was the Gran Añejo lobby bar. Located on the left as you enter the lobby, this cozy bar is decorated with sepia photographs of Havana, creating a nostalgic and elegant atmosphere. The bar is vibrant and colorful. In this area there is an artwork that includes three different designs of the Cuban flag, a piece that immediately captured my attention and admiration. The furniture is gray and in the center of the table is the name of the bar.

Uno de los espacios que más me impresionó fue el lobby bar Gran Añejo. Ubicado a la izquierda al entrar al lobby, este acogedor bar está decorado con fotografías en sepia de La Habana, creando una atmósfera nostálgica y elegante. La barra, vibrante y colorida. En esta área hay una obra artística que incluye tres diseños distintos de la bandera cubana, una pieza que capturó mi atención y admiración de inmediato. Los muebles son grises y al centro de las mesas se observa el nombre del bar.

To the right is another lobby bar Exprespres, although most people call it lobby bar Vista al mar, because through the windows you can see our brand new Malecon, I took the pictures from far away so it is not well appreciated but it is usually very nice for tourists, they love to sit in those comfortable gray seats.

A la derecha se encuentra otro lobby bar Expres, aunque la mayoría de la gente lo llama lobby bar Vista al mar, porque a través de las ventanas se puede ver nuestro flamante Malecón, tomé las fotos desde lejos por lo que no se aprecia bien pero suele ser muy agradable para los turistas, les encanta sentarse en esos cómodos asientos grises.

The hotel lobby is a veritable museum of contemporary art. The white and light gray walls and large windows facing the exterior allow natural light to flood the space, enhancing the beauty of the numerous works of art that adorn every corner. Paintings and sculptures by various Cuban artists are harmoniously integrated into the design, creating a sophisticated and welcoming ambiance. The chandeliers are like beautiful crystal balls and in the center there is a very particular one, underneath there is a round sofa and in the center plants adorn it, all a delight.

El vestíbulo del hotel es un auténtico museo de arte contemporáneo. Las paredes blancas y gris claro y los grandes ventanales que dan al exterior permiten que la luz natural inunde el espacio, realzando la belleza de las numerosas obras de arte que adornan cada rincón. Pinturas y esculturas de varios artistas cubanos se integran armoniosamente en el diseño, creando un ambiente sofisticado y acogedor. Las lamparas son como hermosas bolas de cristal y en el centro hay una muy particular , debajo hay un sofá redondo y en el centro lo adornan plantas, todo una delicia.

Going up a few steps I found a place that still has not left my mind. I am referring to a small store that sells souvenirs of Cuba as a tourist destination; but it was not these products that caught my attention, but the name of the place: MACONDO. I couldn't help but get lost in the labyrinths of Gabriel García Márquez's masterpiece, “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, where the whole story takes place in a town called Macondo. This made me travel.

Subiendo unos escalones encontré un lugar que todavía no se me ha ido de la cabeza. Me refiero a una pequeña tienda que vende recuerdos de Cuba como destino turístico; pero no fueron estos productos los que llamaron mi atención, sino el nombre del lugar: MACONDO. No pude evitar perderme en los laberintos de la obra maestra de Gabriel García Márquez, «Cien años de soledad», donde toda la historia transcurre en un pueblo llamado Macondo. Esto me hizo viajar.

My tour continued up an escalator that took me to the next floor, where I discovered a well-equipped Casa del Habano. This space, dedicated to cigar lovers, offers a wide selection of Cuban rums. There is also a table for rolling cigars, but at that moment there was no cigar rolling machine, and a well-polished wooden bar. On that floor there are also several rooms for receptions, although at that moment they were empty, I could appreciate its spaciousness and comfort, ideal for any type of event.

Mi recorrido continuó por una escalera mecánica que me llevó a la siguiente planta, donde descubrí una bien equipada Casa del Habano. Este espacio, dedicado a los amantes de los puros, ofrece una amplia selección de rones cubanos. Ademas existe una mesa para torcer tabacos , en ese instante no estaba la torcedora, se aprecia una barra muy bien pulida de madera. En esa planta también hay varias salas para recepciones.Aunque en ese momento estaban vacíos, pude apreciar su amplitud y confort, ideales para cualquier tipo de evento.

The Meliá Cohiba Hotel is an example of modern architecture and functionality. Every detail is designed to offer a unique and memorable experience to its guests. The combination of luxury, elegance and a deep respect for Cuba's artistic tradition make this hotel a truly special place.

El Hotel Meliá Cohiba es un ejemplo de arquitectura moderna y funcionalidad. Cada detalle, está pensado para ofrecer una experiencia única y memorable a sus huéspedes. La combinación de lujo, elegancia y un profundo respeto por la tradición artística de Cuba hacen de este hotel un lugar verdaderamente especial.

It was an unforgettable experience, even though it was a quick trip. Not only was it possible to admire this beautiful design up close, but also the warmth and professionalism of the staff left a lasting impression on me. Without a doubt, this hotel is a source of pride for Havana, where artistic elements are elegantly combined to create an atmosphere of Cuban art and culture.

Fue una experiencia inolvidable, a pesar de ser un rapido recorrido. No solo por admirar de cerca ésta belleza de diseño, tambien por la calidez y profesionalismo de su personal, me dejaron una impresión duradera. Sin duda, este hotel es un orgullo para La Habana donde se combina con mucha elegancia elementos artísticos creando un ambiente de arte y cultura cubana.
