My Actifit Report Card: August 14 2024
The four of us played a fun round of eighteen-hole disc golf. I came in second with the scores at +22, +22, +24, and +24. I might have won, but I had a bit of a meltdown on hole 14.
Hole 14 is a difficult par 4 with a tight fairway with some forested rough right to the front right of the tee. Usually, a backhand throw will hyzer out of bounds to the left if you're not careful. I was being extra careful and shanked my first throw off the tee into the forested rough. I thought I could pitch out from the spot, but my throw got caught in a bush and disappeared.
The four of us looked for the disc but could not find it. Rather than rethrow from the forest, I went back to the tee and threw again from there.
It is kind of fun to see just how badly you can play a hole, lol. To make a long story short, I ended up taking a nine to complete the hole. (There were a couple of penatly points involved.)
After the round was over, I went back to look for my disc and searched for some time where we all thought I had pitched out to. I was about to give up when I thought maybe it was closer to the tee than where we all were looking. I looked under a bush closer to the tee and found the disc right away. I was feeling really happy to get it back.
On the way back, I found a nice piece of wood by the side of the fairway. It was not marking a boundary or anything, so I carted it off. My cart wheels made some odd noises from the load, but I got it back to the car pretty easily. I had asked the folks that ran the disc golf course if it was okay, and they said that there was plenty of wood around, so no worries.

The wood round is making a nice chopping block in the backyard. Now I need to find some nice green hardwood.
It would indeed make a wonderful chopping block! If you have any old tires, and if they will fit over it, you can stack 2 or 3 until they are above it. Then, place your wood to be split inside. When you swing the ax, the tire will protect you from injury, should you miss. Ask @silvertop, as he does this and it's pretty amazing. Plus, the wood doesn't fall out and you don't have to keep resetting it back up. Once done, you can take all the pieces and stack them where ever. Have fun and take care!

It is nice to get your lost discs back for sure. I have a lot of scrip to spend on new discs but old beat-in discs fly the best.

Yup. At least the round wasn't all bad and it was a nice reminder of how badly I can play a hole. One friend came close to tossing his bag in the river after a series of bad holes, but I never take the game that seriously.
