I have been once again "AWOL" 🤫🤭😊 from the #wednesdaywalk the last few weeks, mostly due to weather and things going on around me..😳, again as well and steady intermittent "rain"...
Today was no exception! I was going out to see if I could find anything worth posting. I got to the gate and,
"Deer"!
A "Big" surprise!

First I caught this guy checking out the gate,
Then he decided to check out me!

Then he wandered across the street,
Got to the bushes,
Started to trot,
And disappeared into the brush next to my neighbors mailbox!
Well, that was it for this Wednesday Walk!

When I first got here there was maybe 10X the Deer here than there is now, so you did see them all the time... Now due to the constant construction not so much...
However...
Due to this being a "Tropical Island", which America has not many...
You better not kill "Anything"! Two exceptions.. Fish, Ruth size in season.. And if they get killed by your car... Otherwise, it better be life and death (they will let you get away with on dogs though - many out bulls here).
And all animals have a price if killed, like if you kill a Vulture it's $1500.00.. All other animals have different amounts.. Oh and you can kill Sharks...
Otherwise.. Yeah, they would be killing them and honestly there would not be any now! 😳

Unfortunately I will have to stray from my Hive family, but never too far and for too long either! (bloody work....)
And even while I was on holiday, every moment- every photo I took I was thinking about my hive family at the time because I knew that I wanted to share my adventure with you all, because it was such a huge adventure and I did things, saw places that I have either never done and not done for along time and I have family here on hive that may never get the chance to go were I went and see those things too, so you were all with my at every step of that holiday, blisters and all...

I get it with the work thing, I was working when I started here myself 😉. It just "absorbs the life out of you"... And I didn't get that until I stopped..🤔🧐😕
Well, while trying to get my upcoming mandated medical insurance taken care of...
My Veterans Association things came up...
Well here in this county "someone" (and they know who, they are not telling me) closed my file! Highly illegal as I am still alive... So since "I" discovered this.. They have been very nice and helpful.. And even admitted that my records had been scanned for my apartment in August of 2021! Again who???
But I am sure I am there in the Spring! 🌱🌄🌱
On the animals...
This is a "Audubon Society" protected area...
So You can't kill things.. except what I mentioned..
The dogs part was because of the Pit Bulls that occasionally form themselves into packs.. Since they have killed kids in the last and also maimed people there is no fine if you shit one of them.. But the "nature animals"... Best to not kill any, not that I would ever want to anyways...
So...
If you kill a Vulture (for example) the fine is $1500.00
If you kill a Sea Turtle... "Oh Man" 😳
You will get a fine "over $3000.00" (normally around $4000 but could be more..)...
They "Will" confiscate "any" gear with you - including your truck..
You "Will" probably get around 45 days in jail.. depends on lawyer (I guess 🤔)..
And You will be harassed in the future by the local Game Wardens.. And they just built a new facility here to let people know they are going to enforce the Animal Laws!
That was all an example.. A Coyote is up there as well... But, they do take any animal death here pretty serious. You also "cannot" put your dog outside on a chain.. Actually your not allowed to have a chain "anything" with a pet here..

As for the animals, so glad to hear all that cause as you know, I am a HUGE animal lover and advocate and for a split second when I read that they built a a new facility there, I though I should apply for a job there! 🤣 If I didn't have bigger plans to protect animals from braindead, arrogant thugs, I would!
So glad to see that your region take animal cruelty so seriously!
Especially not allowing anyone to chain up any animals and leave them outside in the weather!
As far as I'm concerned, if you don't want to take you pet inside with you- especially at night, then A) why do you have one and B) you don't deserve such amazing animals at all.
Now I could talk on and on and on about animals all night, but I won't because I'll be doing that soon in one of my programs!

Yes the "only" thing about this place is they try, they really do to take care of what's left. I never mentioned before but there is a "HUGE" fish hatchery here as well.. Secured like an Army base, so no-one goes "fishing" or poison's the water in any way. They truck fish out of here to ponds and lakes all over Texas!
Yes myself am also a huge animal advocate, and I am with you.. If you're too lazy to take care of an animal right, you should not have him/her.

Meaning...
Except...
Fish in season,
Sharks,
Some dogs (depending on the situation)
Otherwise...
If it's not a car accident.. It will cost you!
Vultures are $1500.00 for example...
I can imagine a Deer would be around $5000.00 or something like that...
I forgot, also Rattlesnakes (especially the young ones) are also unprotected...
I think it's why they are like that..

A few years ago,
I went to work one morning and at the desk a baby one (10 inches) had gotten behind the coffee can on the desk!
Just hissing and rattling away!

Actually I live a bit away from the downtown on an Island, still something that does not happen here that much anymore...
It did 25-30 years ago though...
