Wednesday Sketch

I'm trying to keep up with my sketch schedule, one a day, and so the wiser course of action might be execute them the day before to release the next day.

The reference image has great deep shadows which makes for a very strong image and almost gives it a graphic design quality.

I think the image was meant to be Caesar. We have busts from the Roman era, but they all vary somewhat, so there's some general assumptions about what he looked like. As he was cremated after he died, there are no physical remains left either.

But perhaps that is the way, he was larger than life when he lived and shall remain so even after death, so perhaps it is fitting that he lives on in our imaginations.
