Two Heads are Better than One... or is it?
You must be prepared to sacrifice.
While elimination is the theme of this painting, it's appropriate to talk about my process of elimination and modification of painting that is a work in progress.
Often when we have invested a great deal of time into something, we are reluctant to change course and do things differently, and settle for a "safer" more "assured" outcome, even if it falls short of our vision or goal.
I quite enjoy being brutal with my paintings and obliterating features that aren't working. Mind you, it does take me a little time to commit to that, but when I do, there's no looking back.
The digital age has provided artists with the tools to rework, or iterate our images with ease to find a result that makes the image work.
When I arrive at a point with an image, where I wish to investigate a change, I can reach for my DSLR camera, photograph, and then edit on the computer to my heart's content.
You can see in the above image how I've laid chalk lines on the canvas matching the guidelines on the computer. This allows me to accurately place the new changes on painting. The chalk (pastel) can be easily removed.
This painting is still in a very rough stage, so check in for future updates on it's progress or outcome.

I only do digital art so haven't come across this particular type of amusement before XD
Though it could be another interesting story if you made the two heads conjoined twins D:
"this particular type of amusement"... indeed it is. 😀
I had thought of the two heads, but since the theme is beheading, someone's head is coming off.
The head of one of the conjoined twins in an attempt to make them "normal" D:
I guess we'll find out next update which one gets axed :)
Stay tuned... same Bat time, same Bat channel!
