Tree of Life - Figurative Oil Painting
It's a time for me to tidy up loose ends. This new painting, was actually started back in 2021, but then languished in the studio, when I did not know how to complete it... until now.
Tree of Life represents the wonder of creation, the awe of it's mystery, where if we surrender to it, we find a sense of peace and connection. It is the wordless meaning of life.
We like the tree, rather than being the hapless passive subject that the world acts upon, we are an active part of this world. Our very existence and life as it unfolds, bends and sways in the weather of our times. We draw sustenance from where are rooted, growing in depth, yet unfolding outward.
You can see in the above photos how the panting developed, being built up in progressive steps. I have no idea how long I worked on it now since there was such a long break before finishing it. I guess I could go back and look at the dates on the photos and take a guess.
It's a good feeling to finally complete this painting, as I loath having unfinished painting projects.
And on that note, it is time for me to go and finish off a few of the others.

Nice work. Did you have models?
Thank you Steve! I work from photo references. They always sit still, don't need breaks and are available when I want them. 😀
