Before the Meal - Oil Painting

I've been working in the kitchen and studio again. After the success of photographing the reference for "Daily Bread" painting, I wanted to experiment with it further.

This time, I used ink to give the painting a coloured ground. With this I can create many different patterns which can be worked into the painting. I also worked a but more chunky than usual. Perhaps that's an influence from my recent Rembrandt portrait.

I'm not about to become solely a still life painter, I may do more yet.
