One of the Largest Updates Ever Deployed to Leo | Explore Page, Rich Search, Communities and LEO Shorts/Stories?
This is one of the largest updates we've ever deployed to the UI. There is so much to unpack with today's update but we will focus on some of the core new features and talk about the future of LEO's Everything App.
In this update:
- Real-time threads
- New Explore Page
- New Upvote Slider
- New Trending Tags Update
- Rich Search
- New Dim Mode
- Mobile-Usability Updates
- Update to Modules including GIFs & Emojis
Let's dive in, keep it short and then you should dive in and explore the UI yourself! https://leofinance.io
Real-Time Threads
Real-Time Threads updates allows you to see the new Threads posted in real-time. If you are anywhere in the Threads feed, a small dialog at the top will tell you new Threads have been posted. Clicking it will take you back to the top of the feed.
If you are sitting on the homepage, new Threads will autonomously load and populate your feed.
Note: we temporarily disabled the real-time refreshing for a few bug fixes. It will be live again in a few hours. Our goal was to get a bunch of feedback, take it down and then push it back with all the feedback implemented. Thank you to all who gave us this feedback!
New Explore Page
The all-new Explore page... wow there is so much to unpack here.
I'll let you explore it for yourself but make some key notes here. The top shows you a Search Bar that allows for rich searching of information and segments of the LeoFinance UI.
For example, searching "LeoFinance" will give you the #leofinance, the community leofinance and the @leofinance account.
Below that you'll see suggested accounts to follow. These are based on engagement and overall length of activity on the platform.
The goal here is that new users will be given a set of users they can follow to kickstart their "My Feed" following list and get high quality Threads & Articles in their feed.
Next you'll find Trending Posts based on LEO payout. Then Popular Communities based on Community Activity levels.
New Upvote Slider
The all-new Upvote slider is more compact and easier to use / get the % you want. Enjoy!
New Trending Tags Update
Trending hashtags got a refresh! Self-explanatory here!
Rich Search
Rich Search can be accessed in the top-right search bar or from the main search bar on the explore page.
If you access it from the top right, you'll type something in to search and then hit "See More" to see the full-page of search results.
Think of this like Google Search. When you start typing, google gives you top 5 options. If you hit enter, you get the full page of results.
Same goes here.
The results will now show you
- Users
- Communities
- Hashtags
In one of our next updates, we'll be adding individual Articles and full-text search to this. It will blow your mind.
New Dim Mode
We updated the icon at the top Left and now you can select Light, Dim or Dark Mode.
Mobile-Usability Updates
Mobile got a huge number of updates to make it more user-friendly. On the list is better typing box (so it doesn't zoom around while typing) and many other changes to the menu, explore page, communities page, articles page and Threads screens.
This was a really big update for Mobile. A bunch more are on the way including an Image workaround for Hivesigner.
The mobile web app has never been more enjoyable to use. If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Pro tip: try LeoAuth as your sign in method for the most flawless experience!
Update to Modules including GIFs & Emojis
We completely rebuilt the GIFs and Emojis modules and also deployed a ton of bug fixes in this update. Enjoy!
LEO Shorts/Stories?
We're teasing this feature. You can see how it would fit into the UI by exploring the Explore page and seeing the user bubbles at the top.
Now imagine seeing those bubbles across the UI for your Following Feed and when someone posts a LeoShort / LeoStory, it would work like Instagram Stories where you tap on it to watch.
Tomorrow, we'll release a post talking about LeoAds and Evergreen Content getting rewarded on Hive x LeoFinance through our new Evergreen Rewards Protocol that takes ad revenue -> buys LEO -> pays creators based on views on their content in perpetuity stay tuned to see how some creators like Taskmaster and others could earn $10k+ per month in the long-run.

I do like this shorts/stories feature but how will payout on those work and how would they get published?
Overall a very solid base of updates to Leofinance. The only one missing is ad revenue still ;)
These updates are quite wonderful. Kudos to the team. Also please how do we navigate towards not allowing pictures posted on thread not to be a character in the sense that if we posts a picture, it would not count as a character that sums up the total number of characters per field in a thread.
Also on the aspect of publishing a picture that one aren't the original creator do one necessary need to source it, in the absence of that is one violating the rules of hive thereby drawing the attention of HW.
Can there be a way of the time frame of a thread published be exact other than the 7hours it normally write even when the thread was published that same second.
Thanks for looking into this.
And yet still no voting power indicator for leo :)
It's is quite odd
Cannot wait to hear about Evergreen, and Leoshorts
This update is really detailed. @leofinance is doing well to get the best for their users. I have really seen more improvement in the UI. Thanks very much for making the Leofinance mobile app user friendly and with lots of information.
This is a fabulous update - I especially like the focus on improving the Search experience.
One update I'm not sure about is the idea of Evergreen content. I absolutely adore the concept of being able to generate long-term residual revenue from content, but worry that they way it's being implemented could be too advantageous to the biggest players while offering little to newer or smaller Lions.
Would it be easier just to allow upvotes from any content to deliver rewards no matter how long ago it was posted, but only to count one upvote from each member to prevent people upvoting the same post multiple times ?
I understand your misgivings. But I think the sooner we start the process, the sooner we start to improve any faults. Because, for me, I need to see some potential for long-term content rewards. Otherwise, I can't move my focus from Web2 to Web3 - and I really want to start putting Web3 first.
I'll be glad 😊 to see the article and full text search in your next update.
I love the fact the update just keep coming and many bugs have already been fix. Keep doing the good work
