Introducing Bookmarks | Cross-Device Compatible, Folder System and Premium Features

They always say that you build the best product when you build a product for yourself. INLEO as a whole is a product like that as I was always looking for a platform that could provide me the tools to build a personal brand and business around it. I couldn't find all the tools I wanted and thus, INLEO was born.

Bookmarks are another such product. If you're reading this, then Bookmarks are officially live on https://inleo.io. We've actually had bookmarks for quite a while now, but this is an entirely redesigned system for them.

Why Bookmarks

I've found that on X, I use bookmarks super frequently. I am always bookmarking X Posts into various folders so that I can read them later. You just never have enough time to sit down and read all the content coming your way. Sometimes I'm in a hurry and can't read through a lengthy X Post or a Tweet thread. So, I bookmark it and know that I can come back to it later.

Bookmarking is not an entirely new concept, obviously. On Hive, we haven't really had a great way to bookmark and organize content... until today.

Introducing Bookmarks | Cross-Device Compatible, Folder System and Premium Features

I wanted us to build a Bookmarking system that was cross-device compatible (so you can bookmark on Desktop and then open your folders on Mobile). I also wanted a Folder system and I wanted to provide some greater features to Premium users.

The new Bookmark system we built leverages LeoCache to allow users to do all of the above. Any user can now bookmark any Thread or Blog Post and it will save in their "All" bookmarks folder forever (until they manually remove the bookmark).

If you are Premium, then you also can create folders for various categories. For example, I have:

  1. All (standard, everyone has it)
  2. Thorchain
  3. Feedback
  4. Hive
  5. LeoAI

These features have been in Labs for testing for quite a while now and they have just made it to the full production UI.

In the rest of this post, we'll walk through all the steps of how to use bookmarks.

How to Bookmark

The easiest step of them all. To bookmark any Post or Thread, just tap the "Bookmark" icon. If you're premium, then you'll get a pop-up asks you which folder you want to put that Bookmark into.

How to Read Bookmarks

After marking something, just tap the left menu item for "Bookmarks" or use the hamburger menu on Mobile.

Click on the folder they're in (All is the default) and then you can scroll through any of your marks. Threads and Blog Posts are interwoven throughout each folder.

To delete a bookmark once you're done, just tap the icon again.

How to Create Folders

Alright, if you're a Premium user, then you can create folders to categorize your bookmarks. These folders can be created and deleted at any time and you can make as many of them as you want.

To create a folder, head to the main "Bookmarks" tab. Then tap "Create Folder".

A pop-up will ask you to name the folder, name it whatever you want and then confirm.

You'll then see the folder populate in your list.

How to Add Bookmarks to Folders

Once you've created at least 1 folder, you'll get the option to choose which folder to put a bookmark into once you click the bookmark option on any thread or blog post.

In my opinion, Bookmarks are a game changer for usability. It's completely changed the way I read and go through content on Hive. Instead of being locked in to saving links all over the place or bookmarking everything into 1 place and having no organization, I can now bookmark both Threads and Blog Posts into categorically organized folders and come back to those marks whenever I want... I can also do it on any device that I want to as these bookmarks are tied to your Hive account.

Ready to Go Premium?

If you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend it. If you're looking for the Folder access, then consider becoming a LEO Premium Subscriber. LEO Premium is a 10 HBD per month subscription that grants you access to over 12 exclusive features (like Bookmark Folders). We're constantly adding features for both non-premium and premium users. 100% of the revenue earned by LEO Premium subs is used to buy HIVE and LEO off the open market and then pool it in a permanent liquidity pool. I think it is the most obvious investment you could make in your #hive account. We're collecting some data on Premium users and have found that they all earn well over $20+ more per month in upvotes (HIVE & LEO rewards) after going Premium

Majority of this is coming from upvotes by the community - seeing the checkmark signals your investment - and then a lot also comes from @leo.voter

These are awesome! Until I used them, I didn't realize how valuable and convenient they can be. I typically scroll through headlines a few times a day and don't always have time to read articles that pique my interest. This solves that problem. As you said, this one feature alone makes premium worth it!

Now....when can we put folders inside of folders? Like if I have a "LeoMusic" folder, when can I put "80s", "90s", Rock, Bangers, Ballads, categories underneath so I can categorize the songs/albums I like listening to? (Never satisfied 😁 ) Great work here!

This is an awesome addition for @inLeo.

Just one question, what happens when a premium user has to step back to free. Do the folders disappear with the content?
