My Acti-Staying-Up Report Card: April 5 2023
The magnitude of last night's win against Forest cannot be underestimated as we yet again, battle for Premier League survival.
We outran, outplayed and outclassed a poor Forest from the start although dropping an early goal after allowing them a quick counter- attack set the already jangling nerves, rattling like a can of marbles.
Harrison was superb after being no more than mediocre for much of the last two seasons and tormented the Forest defence with his close ball dribbling and a superb shot saw him equalise mid way through the first half before continued pressure saw the equally skillful Colombian, Sinisterra bag another right on the cusp of the half time.
Leeds continued to dominate through the second half but just couldn't find the back of the net leaving hearts on mouths and nails bitten down to the wicks, Bamford missing a golden opportunity when finding himself one on one with the Forest keeper, but as the final whistle blew, the points were in the bag and the league position looking a lot healthier as we sit in 13th place.
I'll be watching the feeds today as there is no way Forest manager, Steve Cooper is keeping his job as a winless in seven, Forest teeter on the edge of relegation. After last night's performance, they'd have to be a favourite for the drop.
Another massive game on Sunday as we welcome Palace to the slaughterhouse and another three points from this game should see us safe.
It was good to see Gnoto on the bench after an injury sustained playing for Italy and Rodrigo get a few minutes under his belt to sharpen him up after his return from a broken ankle.
A quick word on Firpo who after a torrid and.injury Laden first couple of seasons has started really performing this term with some fantastic runs down the left wing and excellent interplay with Harrison. I for one am happy for him that he's finally proving his critics wrong.
Marc Roca is another who is coming good at the right time and has stepped up to the mark in the absence of injured Tyler Adams whom it was great to see on the pitch at the end celebrating with the rest of the team.
Well worth staying up for but the 1.45am kick-off Thai time means I'm a little jaded this morning!
I'm not going to get too carried away. I'll be honest, Forest were dreadful but this was a six-pointer and a must win match in many ways and the lads stood up to be counted.
It's all looking good for the final nine games despite the last 5 of those in May looking like extremely tough ones, mostly up against top flight opposition.
Best wishes and keep Marching On Together!
