Lunch at Bulalo Joint

Bulalo or beef bone marrow soup is a favorite dish here in our country. Aside from the bone marrow and beef other ingredients like cabbage, green beans, potatoes and onions are added and seasoned with salt and pepper but some may add other seasoning as well to add more taste and flavor to it. We were in the mood for a bone marrow soup one time so we decided to check out Bulalo Joint.

Bulalo Joint is located along Camp 7, Kennon Road, Baguio City. This is a small restaurant that we saw posts about it in social media that's why we decided to pay a visit. Of course, we we decided to go for bulalo right away. Checking out their menu, there were a few choices aside from beef including chicken, salmon and pork.

This is our first time here so we don't know what to expect. In addition to the bone marrow soup, we ordered rice with that. It is a staple for Filipinos to have rice with every meal. We were having a hard time what to add to that. We wanted something with veggies so we settled for bone marrow with ensalada. As per the description on the menu, it is half a bone marrow with steamed chayote tops, freshly cut onions, tomatoes, red eggs with their homemade vinaigrette to top it off.

When we got there, we were the only customers that's why we didn't have to wait long. We chose to sit outside. It is hot inside although it has a high ceiling but it is a bit cramped.

Their soup is good for 2-4 persons depending on how much of an eater you are. It could also be good for one. The soup is really tasty and flavorful. I like that it is not that salty. The saltiness is just right. We quickly finished the soup and good thing there are free refills.

The ensalada is delicious as well for the combination of the ingredients plus their vinaigrette has that and refreshing taste.

It would have been better to top that off with a dessert. Unfortunately, there is no halo-halo available. I'm not in the mood for the other desserts that they have available at that time.

Bulalo Joint is on the outskirts of the city that's why it's a good choice when you feel like getting away from the city center. It is accessible too for it is one ride away from town. It is good for individual or groups. They do have budget meal servings too. They have basic meals and drinks though so don't expect much but since they are called Bulalo Joint then expect for bulalo of course.
