Preparation for Surgery
Since I returned home from my surgery I haven't been able to sat in front of my computer to write a post. I have been recovering slowly, but healthily. Today I realized that it was necessary to do it because money doesn't grow on trees, and that it has been the most spent resource at home with all my medical expenses. I want to talk about how things were prior my surgery, and how many things I had to do to be prepare for it.
Once the institution solved the problem about how to pay my surgery I went to the clinic to receive the last medical checks. The clinic told me to be there on Monday 18 at 7 am. I had to fast because of all the blood evaluations I was going to go through with the purpose of evaluating my physical conditions once more.
There was a group of nurses waiting for me, and many questions were formulated about my life and about my maternal family. They asked everything about my mother and her health trying to determined if my cancer was hereditary. I think they were exaggerated, but I am used to all these kind of things. I had to wait for the lady who was going to extract my blood. I had to give a sample of urine as well and follow to that I went through the Covid Test which was very disgusting, the lady introduced a stick inside my nose very deep which made me reject it, but I had to repeat it again.
After that, I was taken to the X-ray room for the lung plate though I took one I have taken 2 months ago. They wanted to be sure my lungs were functioning well. I think this is a way of making the institution pay more money that could be saved, but never mind I let them go through the process determined by the clinic. I also had to wait for the radiologist. I was the only person who arrived early in the clinic, it wasn't fair because I was fasting.
With all the results in hand, now I was invited to a waiting room. I suspected that I have to wait a while for the doctors who were going to check all the studies realized. I am glad that at least I could eat a small breakfast I could share with my husband. We ate chicken pies with orange juice at about 11 o' clock in the morning near lunch time. I have to be evaluated by the cardiologist, internist, and by the anesthesiologist.
The anesthesiologist said he was going to use a general anesthesia because the surgery was going to take more than 3 hours. He revised my tongue and asked a few questions about prosthesis and allergies to some medicines and if I I had gone through other surgeries where I had problems with the anesthesia being used. The cardiologist said that I have to wear antithrombotic stockings and that they were going to apply an injection in my tummy to dissolve thrombi. Finally they agree I didn't have perfect conditions, but I could go to surgery next day and gave me the last specifications.
I left the clinic at 3 o' clock very tired, but feeling positive because I had to go though that surgery next day. I had to be in the clinic at 7 am next day and of course fasting since 7 pm from this present day. I knew this clinic was one of the best in the city and had all I needed for the surgery and I felt I was in good hands and I gave thanks to God for his kindness.
