I'll share my cooking recipe of Roasted Chickpeasππ©π½βπ³.
Today I will talk about a special Roasted Chickpeas recipe. This is a very familiar recipe for us, which is very tasty and healthy to eat. This is very popular not only in our country but also in different countries. A very common and popular dish in the month of Ramadan is this Roasted Chickpeas. Many people cook this in many ways and today I will share with you the recipe of how I do this at home. So let's see how easy it is to cook chickpeas. Hope you like it.
Ingredients & Steps to follow:
All the ingredients are not pictured here but I made this recipe as per above ingredients. Here are the spices for cooking.
- Chickpeas
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 2 cardamoms, 2 cinnamon and a bay leaf
- Turmeric powder
- Chili powder
- Cumin powder
- Ginger paste and garlic paste
- 2-3 green chilies
- 2 dry chilies
- 1 potato
- 2 tbsp. oil
- Salt as needed
- 2 tbsp. coriander leaves
The process to follow:
First, I soaked the chickpeas for at least 7/8 hours before cooking. But soaking it overnight should give better results.
After I was done soaking the chickpeas, I added enough salt and water to boil. I let it boil for 1 hour with a few pieces of potato. Chickpeas are my favorite to cook with potatoes. I mixed the chickpeas with salt beforehand to cook them quickly. I took out the chickpeas before the water dries out otherwise the peas turns black during cooking. So I always take out the boiled water before it dries.
After that, I started heating oil in a pan and fried a little with dry chilies and bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom. After some time, a beautiful fragrance came out from these spices and then I added chopped onion. The onions had to be cooked for a while to get soften.
I used mustard oil to fry these chickpeas. That's why all the oils were floating in the onions. Cooking with mustard oil makes any food healthier. Also, the smell of mustard oil mixes with the smell of food and is very delicious.
Anyway, after the onions are soft, I have added all the spices one by one. If the spices are not given in correct quantity in this chickpea roast, the taste of cooking decreases. So I gave all the spices as per quantity. I had to be careful not to add too much turmeric powder and chili powder. If there is too much, it may become bitter and the color becomes darker. So when I roast chickpeas I make sure that these spices are not too much.
Here I have cooked it with all the spices mixed with some water. I mixed the spices well so that the raw smell of these spices goes away.
After that, I mixed the potatoes well with all the spices. After some time I mixed the boiled chickpeas with these ingredients.
I mixed the potatoes and chickpeas together and sautΓ©ed for 5 minutes. The cooking is faster when the chickpeas are cooked. I added salt to taste and stirred again, then I added a small amount of water. I cooked it for 10 to 15 minutes with enough water. In this recipe I added mashed potatoes which made the recipe very tasty.
After about 15 minutes the chickpeas were roasted perfectly. Then I put them in a bowl and added some fresh coriander leaves.
So, the chickpeas are ready. I served this Roasted Chickpeas hot for afternoon snack. It was very tasty. I like this dish a lot.

Also, after soaking these chickpeas overnight, you can eat raw chickpeas in the morning. Chickpeas contain good amount of folic acid which keeps blood pressure under control. It is very nutritious and healthy.

I have tasted extraordinary things of flavor and caloric content in Ramadam as curiosity and my friends have given me enough information to understand the traditions, but I had never heard of roasted chickpeas, and they look delicious!
